Trap

Plot

"Trap" begins with John, a single father, and his 16-year-old daughter Emily in a populated area. They're initially shown attending a music festival of their teenage idol's 2015 show. Throughout the crowd, various scenes flash without providing background information on them. As the family reaches the venue to attend Emily's favorite singer's concert, tensions rise as Emily presses her distressed father for a more exciting outing. He finally agrees, leading the audience to the enthusiastic teenager's bliss, just a few hours before the disaster unfolds for them. Upon arrival at the packed venue, Emily and John navigate through the gates to discover an ocean of fans clad in their idol's merchandise, beaming with excitement and waving tiny lights in synchronization to get an unobstructed sight of the event's stage. In the electric atmosphere, the performers at long last make their grand entrance. The moment the spotlight flashes upon the stage stars at the center, an excitement takes its toll on Emily and other fans seated close to the stage, including the ones down the way at her level who insistently squawk in excited expectation for the musical act as lights dazzle beyond – only to have the audience feel mesmerized by its sheer intensity and enchanting performance. During their time spent before the main show, John reveals his distaste for certain musicians, voicing his displeasure to Emily. A little disappointed as she anticipated sharing her enthusiasm with her father, Emily starts to secretly share her positive perception of musicians, eventually separating themselves as the musical performance starts live on stage. The intense, head-spinning lights at the music festival cause trouble for Emily. She develops an acute sensitivity to their flickering lights, described as 'overwhelming' with a certain air of anxiety in the sequence. Just as her excitement began to kick in, the overwhelming sensation in this area of Emily's head creates an actual trance, one that temporarily dissociates her perception of their setting beyond their own concentration for the show ongoing behind them. It was as the father tried to talk some logic into his star-struck child at the chaotic music event where things began to get bizarre. Without much additional ado, things transpire: their world comes crashing around them as lights intensify and every fan around them starts to disperse speedily away from their seats. Terrified by an event of an unsettling dread beyond the bounds in view by their senses, daughter along with the help of worried dad struggles to understand the alarming speed as people close to the performances quickly take off all around them via sudden disarray beyond imagination and only for people instantly rushing past in complete fright. In this circumstance we discovered John initially is too numb and couldn't manage his nerve of fear as fear now grows for him. Ultimately a sense arises in his perception on their present to be much more grave than necessary. It just shows he cannot allow it to overtake him, so at that moment, what transpires has become necessary for all their safety. Everything now escalates into a run away as suddenly as before while panic grips the father at having his child’s hands gripped carefully close for safety. Meanwhile what brings unwarranted shock just arrived and put the whole audience surrounding the concert to panicked and also takes away John and Emily from participating in the rest of the events from happening from the excited performances all around them now but in great sense may also raise a realization about just how overwhelming fear really can be. In this event of a high-speed escape from this baffling situation of sudden mass panic which took away our chance to finish at what apparently had a magical moment now transpires, Emily now discovers exactly what also had caused such an imminent need to stay safe. At this very moment, she lost her sense of the place where everything has come to a crashing halt. Having got away she now observes the scene they left and begins to disentangle their actual position as well as to her surprise finds an intense number of death and debris from parts of a collapsing venue and broken stages.
