TRON: Legacy

Plot
TRON: Legacy takes place 20 years after the events of the original TRON. Kevin Flynn, the founder of ENCOM, disappeared after escaping the Grid, leaving behind his son Sam Flynn. Sam is a grown man, haunted by his father's vanishing and seeking his own identity amidst the uncertainties of the real world. He is a self-taught programmer and hacker, with a deep sense of adventure and a steely determination that echoes his father's spirit. As Sam delves into the mysteries of his father's past, he finds himself drawn to the ENCOM Tower, the base of his father's company. He decides to break in, hoping to uncover some clues about his father's disappearance. However, things do not go as planned, as he is arrested by the enforcers of ENCOM, led by Rinzler, a ruthless program once loyal to Kevin Flynn but now a brainwashed and deadly enforcer of the evil dictator Clu. Sam's arrest leads to a surprising rescue by his father's own creators, though not directly by him, but a way to communicate is made to Sam through a rescue sequence initiated by an older and wiser Kevin Flynn in his first computer system of the TRON universe. Sam soon finds himself inside the Grid, a virtual world created by Kevin Flynn as an escape from the complexities of the real world. He is greeted by Quorra, a mysterious and beautiful program designed for her intellectual and fighting prowess by Kevin Flynn. She serves as Sam's guide and mentor in the Grid, introducing him to its inhabitants and its fragile ecosystem. Sam and Quorra embark on a perilous journey to stop Clu, the ruthless program that Kevin Flynn had inadvertently created as his digital clone. Clu is known for his cunning intelligence and unwavering ambition to replace the older Flynn in the Grid, and eventually, to break free and invade the real world. He possesses an unbeatable power in his near-surgical ability to battle skilled warrior programs in the Grid and their total knowledge of his own security systems; he continues to crush the Grid's freedom fighters. The hero of the Grid, McQueen, welcomes Sam to his presence. He advises Flynn to seize this opportunity and fight for freedom, before finally ceasing in a moment of redemption. With newfound resolve, Tron inspires Sam into confronting his arch-nemesis, Clu at this very moment. On their quest, they engage in dizzying battles and epic duels, showcasing the speed and agility of both Sam and Quorra as they evade deadly threats. They disentangle themselves from the grid and seek to break free by generating new possibilities on their journey, while the fragile Grid teeters on the edge of collapse. Clu breaks through into the real world, where he attempts to make his own vision of a perfect, though slightly desolate future, a reality with his manipulation of digital forces via the Grid in the city. However, Sam and Quorra successfully stop and negate this scenario with their aid. The TRON: Legacy creates an air-tight climax. When confronting a peril like this, Sam confronts it hands-on and gets really heroic in many battles against numerous obstacles in each fight that progresses plot at a certain level. Clu must also recognize the fact that this brave and forceful protagonist, in this new heroic world, would use its powers not to bring their worlds to a close, but for freeing their world back to its original intention from near enslavement from previous tyranny. Tron makes a second return before we see him doing some work. Once saved Flynn goes out into the Sun and attempts to send a part of him back into the real from any chance there's for redemption left together that was at the time of the beginning it's not what you expected, when beginning to uncover it.

The 3D is awesome, and the sound effects and soundtrack are seriously cool – better than I expected! They could have cranked up the tension and intensity in the plot a bit more, though.

This film is all about sneaking out at night to play arcade games, running into your dad, beating him, and taking a beautiful woman home as a reward.

3D!!!! IMAX!!! Still can't save this film from being a dud. The hero's smile looks like crying, and his crying looks like a smile.

The 3D is decent, but the IMAX experience is where it truly shines. Prepare for breathtaking electronic visuals rivaling those of *Avatar*, intensified by a booming soundtrack reminiscent of *Inception*. With a plot echoing elements of *Star Trek* and a leading lady channeling the fierce energy of Catherine Zeta-Jones, you've got this wild "light cycle battle" spectacle.
