Plot

In the late 1990s, the Basque Country of Spain was a region plagued by the activities of the ruthless terrorist organization ETA, known for their violent attacks and struggle for independence from Spain. Against this backdrop of fear and uncertainty, a young and ambitious policewoman, Cristina Otero, takes on the mission of a lifetime: to infiltrate ETA and gather crucial information about their plans. Cristina, played by Maria Molina, is a brilliant and determined agent who sees the opportunity to take down the notorious terrorist group as a chance to prove herself and bring a sense of justice to her community. She undergoes extensive training and planning, preparing herself for the task of infiltrating ETA's tight-knit and secretive ranks. With an air of confidence and conviction, Cristina makes contact with ETA members through her undercover alias, "Nekane." Using her charm and wit, she quickly gains the trust of a close-knit circle of ETA members, including charismatic and intelligent operative, Eneko (played by Xabier Etxebarria). As she gains deeper insight into the organization's inner workings, Cristina finds herself drawn into a world of violence and extremist ideologies, where lives are lost and families torn apart. Throughout the film, Cristina's dual identity is expertly woven together, as she navigates the treacherous landscape of loyalty, duty, and deception. On the surface, she appears to be just another young woman from the Basque region, but beneath the façade, she's a highly intelligent operative with a crucial role to play in taking down ETA. As Cristina rises through the ranks of ETA, she encounters a web of complex relationships and motivations. Her interactions with Eneko are particularly intriguing, as his charisma and conviction draw her in, forcing her to question her own moral compass. Meanwhile, ETA's leadership is increasingly driven by extremist ideologies, pushing the organization further down a path of violence and bloodshed. Through her undercover work, Cristina gathers critical information about ETA's plans, but her efforts are matched by a rival ETA operative, who begins to suspect that there may be a mole within their ranks. The tension builds as Cristina's duality becomes increasingly fragile, threatening to expose her true identity at any moment. As the stakes grow higher, Cristina finds herself at the heart of a maelstrom of violence, with her own life hanging in the balance. With the clock ticking, she must make a choice between her duty to uncover the truth about ETA and her loyalty to her fellow operatives, who are becoming increasingly dependent on her as a trusted member of their team. The film takes a gripping turn as Cristina navigates the treacherous waters of ETA's inner circle, where allegiances are forged and broken with deadly abandon. The fate of Spain hangs in the balance, and Cristina's actions will shape the course of history in the Basque region. In a climactic confrontation, Cristina's dual identities collide as she's forced to make a final choice. Will she choose to save the lives of her fellow operatives, or will she sacrifice everything to expose ETA for the ruthless terrorist organization that it is? The tension builds as Cristina prepares to take a stand against the very people who have sworn to protect her, setting the stage for a heart-pounding conclusion that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats. In the end, Cristina emerges victorious, having successfully infiltrated ETA's inner circle and gathered critical information to bring the organization's leadership to justice. Her bravery and resilience have saved countless lives, and her legacy as an undercover agent will live on long after her time in the Basque region has come to an end.
