Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend

In the bustling streets of modern-day Japan, the world is unaware of the ancient struggles that lie beneath the surface. For centuries, the delicate balance between the human, Makai, and Jujinkai realms has been held together by the emergence of a supreme being known as the Choujin, or Overfiend. This powerful entity is said to appear only once every 3,000 years, bringing equilibrium to the world and restoring order to the three realms. However, this cycle of balance and destruction has been disrupted, as the Makai, led by the cunning and manipulative Kukunochi, have deemed the current Choujin candidate, Tatsuo Nagumo, to be an imposter. Believing that Nagumo's existence is a malevolent force, hell-bent on annihilating all life on Earth, the Makai will stop at nothing to eliminate this perceived threat. Meanwhile, in a small school, Nagumo, a listless and unmotivated high school student, begins to exhibit strange and inexplicable signs of transformation. His body is undergoing a series of gruesome mutations, as his inner demon, the Choujin, begins to take hold. Unbeknownst to Nagumo, he has become the focal point of an ancient struggle that will soon engulf him in its chaos. Enter Amano Jyaku, a rugged and mysterious Jujinkai, who possesses unparalleled knowledge of the ancient lore and has devoted his existence to uncovering the location of the Choujin. Having searched the world for 300 years, Amano has finally discovered the presence of the Overfiend within Nagumo's being, and it is now his duty to protect the unsuspecting teenager from those who seek to harness his power. Amano is not alone in this endeavor. His sister, Megumi, and their trusted sidekick, Kuroko, join forces with the group, as they navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries between the Jujinkai, Makai, and human realms. Akemi Ito, Nagumo's shy and endearing girlfriend, also finds herself drawn into this world of ancient magic, becoming a vital part of the group's efforts to preserve the balance of the three realms. As tensions escalate and the battle for control intensifies, the Makai will stop at nothing to eliminate Nagumo and seize control of the Choujin's immense power. The Jujinkai and Amano, in turn, must confront their own demons and face the true nature of the Choujin's potential, all while protecting Nagumo from falling prey to the dark forces that surround him.
