The movie revolves around a young man named Han Dong-chul (played by Jangan Yoo), the son of a high-ranking North Korean official named Han. Dong-chul's father is determined to become the future leader of North Korea, and he expects nothing but the utmost loyalty from his family. The story takes an unexpected turn when Han Dong-chul commits a series of brutal murders in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Seoul, among other international locations. His killings are marked by an unusual and gruesome M.O., with each victim bearing an eerie resemblance to Dong-chul's family members. It becomes clear that these murders are not mere crimes of passion but rather calculated acts designed to send a twisted message to his father and the entire North Korean government. Detective Woo Hyeong-goo (played by JUNG Hae-jeong) and Hong Suk-kyu as Chief Kim from Interpol form an international task force to track down the elusive murderer. As they delve deeper into the case, they discover a trail of clues that leads them on a global manhunt across Europe, Asia, and North America. Meanwhile, a former North Korean operative, named Jung (played by Ryoo Seung-bum), who defected to South Korea, is called upon by the Interpol and South Korean authorities to assist in the investigation. Jung's knowledge of North Korean affairs proves invaluable to the team as they try to understand the motivations behind Han Dong-chul's actions. As the stakes escalate, Woo and Jung's investigation reveals a web of deceit and corruption within the North Korean government. It becomes apparent that Han Dong-chul's actions are not merely a product of a damaged psyche but rather a calculated bid for power within the tightly controlled North Korean regime. Throughout the film, the pace is relentless, interweaving the perspectives of various characters, including Woo, Jung, and an FBI agent. This complex narrative structure adds to the tension, as the audience is kept guessing about the true nature of Han Dong-chul's mission. Throughout the story, the North Korean government and authorities are portrayed as being extremely ruthless and merciless when dealing with dissent. The film portrays many a tragic moment of loss in which those who try to escape get killed or tortured in a most severe manner by the North Korean authorities. As the cat-and-mouse game between Dong-chul and his pursuers reaches its climax, Woo and Jung's team finally closes in on their target. The film's climax is an adrenaline-fueled, action-packed sequence that puts the audience on the edge of their seats as Dong-chul's true intentions are finally revealed. The film raises thought-provoking questions about power, loyalty, and the blurred lines between good and evil. V.I.P. leaves viewers questioning what would drive someone to commit such atrocities and how far one would go to achieve their goals.
