Vote For Wyrm

Vote For Wyrm

Plot

In the quaint, idyllic town of Oakwood, nestled in the heart of rural America, the mayoral election is heating up. Two candidates, both with their own unique brand of charisma and charm, are vying for the top spot. But beneath the smiling faces and lofty promises, a sinister force is at work. Vote for Wyrm, a cleverly crafted campaign ad produced by the cunning and ruthless campaign manager, Ruth, is designed to take down the sitting incumbent, the well-meaning and idealistic Mayor Jim. Ruth's ad, crafted with precision and skill, features wyrm, a symbol of both power and destruction, and relies heavily on dark and ominous imagery to paint the sitting mayor as a corrupt and ineffective leader. At first, the ad seems to have the desired effect, gaining traction among the disenchanted and disillusioned residents of Oakwood. But as the days pass, strange and unsettling occurrences begin to plague the town. Local business owners start to report mysterious equipment malfunctions and seemingly random vandalism, while residents living near the heart of Oakwood start to experience bizarre and terrifying hallucinations. It soon becomes clear that the Wyrm ad has awakened something ancient and malevolent, a malevolent force that has lain dormant beneath the town for centuries. As the town descends into chaos and terror, it becomes apparent that the campaign ad has been more than just a clever piece of propaganda - it's been a blood ritual, unleashing a dark and malevolent entity into the world. At the center of the chaos is a group of young residents, each with their own unique connection to the town's history and the dark forces that lurk beneath its surface. Jamie, a college student and long-time resident, finds herself at the forefront of the battle against the evil entity, drawing on her own reservoir of knowledge and skill to unravel the mystery behind the campaign ad and the horrors that have descended upon the town. As Jamie delves deeper into the mystery, she enlists the help of her friends and allies, each of whom brings their own unique perspective and skill to the table. There's Nate, a tech-savvy veteran who may hold the key to unlocking the secrets of the campaign ad, and Emily, a free-spirited artist who has a unique connection to the supernatural forces at work. Together, the group embarks on a perilous journey to uncover the truth behind the campaign ad and the horrors that have claimed the town. They must face their deepest fears and confront the darkness that lurks within themselves, all while navigating the treacherous landscape of small-town politics and the complex web of alliances and rivalries that underpins Oakwood's social hierarchy. As the stakes grow higher and the town teeters on the brink of chaos, Jamie and her friends must confront the brutal truth behind the campaign ad and the evil forces that have been unleashed. They must decide whether to fight or flee, and what it's worth to save their town from the abyss of terror and destruction that lies ahead. In the end, Vote for Wyrm becomes a shocking and unsettling tale of small-town politics and the horrors that lurk just beneath the surface of even the idyllic-seeming communities. It's a story that will keep you guessing until the very end, a chilling exploration of the darker forces that shape our world.

The film is quite realistic in its portrayal. Don't assume that children are too young to understand democracy and therefore incapable of practicing it. In fact, they often reflect the most straightforward state of democracy in the country. What's most memorable is the little chubby kid, Chengcheng, practicing at home in his underwear every day. Even with such sincerity, you still can't save the ignorant masses from the tyranny behind a small card. Then again, if there's anything unrealistic, it's probably that little girls are actually the most favored in elementary school...

A ludicrous and pretentious mockumentary. Director, spare us your facile attempt to satirize the nation by exploiting a children's mock election. The children themselves aren't cruel; the cruelty lies in your setup, a game they don't understand, a narrative they're unaware they're serving.

That's terrifying. Lorelei and Xu Xiaofei might lose interest as they hit their rebellious phase, and as they grow up, they're absolutely destined to become the most loathsome kind of petty bosses...

I thought I had marked it as 'watched' before, but it's back to 'want to watch' =.= After seeing this film, besides the usual sighs about the children's world being comparable to adult politics, I also felt that the little chubby Cheng Cheng acted exceptionally well, almost like a grassroots-born slick politician. Luo Lei's performance felt authentic, aligning with his family background. Xu Xiaofei, from a single-parent family with a teacher background, appeared overwhelmed, which was also fitting. Looking deeper, the three candidates represent three types of national family identity.
