Wake

Plot
As the stormy weather intensifies, the once-peaceful hospital transforms into a battleground against nature's fury. The strong winds howl outside, threatening to shatter the windows at any moment, while the heavy rains pound against the walls, causing the hospital to creak under the pressure. Amidst the chaos, two nurses, Jen and Ryan, are left to tend to their few remaining patients, awaiting the order to evacuate the building before the hospital is inundated with floodwaters. However, just as the nurses think they've completed their final duties, they receive a new order from the hospital staff, directing them to take care of one last task before leaving. Their charge: to store the "dead-on-arrival" corpse of a young girl in the morgue located downstairs. The nurses exchange uneasy glances, sensing that something is amiss. The journey down to the morgue is an eerie and suspenseful ride. As they navigate through the dimly lit corridors, they're met with eerie shadows cast by the flickering fluorescent lights above. The sound of dripping water, creaking doors, and the distant rumble of thunder create an atmosphere of unease, making it seem as though the hospital itself is alive and conspiring against them. Once they reach the morgue, they discover that the young girl's corpse is not quite as lifeless as they'd expected. To their horror, as soon as they lift her into their arms, she begins to twitch and convulse. Panicked, the nurses quickly realize that this child is not dead, but rather, a victim of the hurricane itself. The storm's force has somehow revived her, and she's now fighting for her life. The nurses are caught between their duty to care for the living and their initial intention to dispose of the deceased. They must now grapple with the moral implications of their actions, and decide whether to take the chance and revive the girl, or to follow orders and stash her away. As the storm rages on, they must navigate this moral quagmire, all while battling the treacherous environment and their own fears. The situation becomes even more perilous when they discover that the hospital's electrical system is failing, plunging the corridors into darkness. The nurses must now rely on their intuition, wit, and quick thinking to find their way back to the main floor, all while tending to the revived child and trying to keep her safe from harm. As they stumble through the blacked-out hallways, the nurses begin to develop a bond with each other, forged from the shared experience of fighting for survival in the midst of chaos. They reveal their fears, insecurities, and vulnerabilities to one another, creating a strong sense of camaraderie that helps them navigate the treacherous world they've found themselves in. Their journey is fraught with obstacles, both physical and emotional. They must contend with the physical hazards of the failing hospital, as well as the psychological strain of being trapped with a child whose revival has awakened both hope and fear. With time running out and the storm showing no signs of abating, the nurses must make a choice that will define their actions and their characters – to care for the revived child or to abandon her to the mercy of the storm. Throughout the chaos, the nurses' actions are influenced by their individual past experiences and motivations. Jen, driven by a sense of responsibility and dedication to her work, is resolute in her duty to care for the child. Ryan, however, has personal demons that threaten to overwhelm him, casting a shadow over his actions. The story takes on elements of a horror genre, with the hurricane-swept hospital serving as a foreboding backdrop to the unfolding events. The darkness, the isolation, and the desperation all contribute to a tense atmosphere that propels the narrative forward. In the climax of the film, the nurses reach a turning point that forces them to make a life-or-death decision. With the hospital on the brink of collapse, they must choose whether to risk their own lives to save the child or abandon her to a fate worse than death. In the aftermath, the survivors are left to grapple with the consequences of their actions. As they emerge from the storm's ruins, they must confront the long-term effects of the disaster and the moral ambiguities they've faced. Will they emerge stronger and more resilient, or will the trauma they've experienced have left its mark, forever altering their perceptions of the world? As the dust settles, and the hospital is finally evacuated, the nurses and the revived child emerge into the bright sunlight, forever changed by the ordeal they endured together. In this moment, they've discovered a shared experience, forged from the fire of their collective struggle, and a bond that will linger as long as the memory of the storm lingers.
