We Are Zombies

Plot

In the film We Are Zombies, the world has been turned upside down by an unexpected twist: the living have become "LIVING-IMPAIRED," a type of zombie that doesn't crave human flesh but instead seems to be plagued by minor issues such as perpetual tiredness, apathy, and forgetfulness. The effects of this affliction can be seen in the mundane routines they follow, as if trapped in an endless cycle of doing the bare minimum. Our main characters, a trio of slackers, live in this new normal and go about their daily lives in a haze. They appear to have no ambition, no drive, and no real sense of purpose, but deep down, they're just trying to survive in a world where every day feels like Groundhog Day. The slacker trio consists of Burt, Mike, and their friend's younger brother, Brian, who gets swept up into their group's antics. Their lives are turned upside down when a local megacorporation, led by the ruthless and cunning CEO, Evelyn, starts to exert its influence over the city. Evelyn's company, Eternity Industries, has a hold on the city's essential services, including utilities and healthcare, which gives it the power to control the LIVING-IMPAIRED population. She uses her influence to exploit the vulnerable, forcing people to buy subpar products to alleviate their affliction. In this chaotic world, the three friends stumble upon a plot to kidnap their grandma, Dorothy, a feisty woman who seems unaffected by the LIVING-IMPAIRED condition. Eternity Industries has taken her to its research facility, where she is being held against her will and used as a test subject for their treatments. Determined to rescue their beloved grandmother, Mike, Burt, and Brian embark on a perilous journey, navigating the treacherous landscape of the LIVING-IMPAIRED world. As they set out, they discover that there are those within the community who are not afflicted, individuals who are immune to the LIVING-IMPAIRED condition but forced to live in hiding. These individuals possess a unique set of skills and abilities, which the slackers learn to harness and utilize on their quest. Their plan to rescue Dorothy involves infiltrating Eternity Industries, stealing crucial data, and disrupting Evelyn's operations. Along the way, they encounter rival gangs of thieves, corrupt police, and other adversaries. The stakes are higher than ever before, as they fight small-time crooks who prey on the vulnerable. In addition to fighting against Eternity Industries' sinister plans for the city, they're also navigating their own struggles with their personal lives. As they venture deeper into the heart of the corporation, Mike, Burt, and Brian realize that their grandma's kidnapping is merely the tip of the iceberg. They learn about the true intentions of Evelyn and her associates: to harness the potential of the LIVING-IMPAIRED by finding a way to exploit their unique abilities. Eternity Industries aims to use the LIVING-IMPAIRED as an underclass, forcing them to do menial, low-skilled labor for an underwhelming wage. With every step closer to rescuing their grandma, the slackers become increasingly more determined to take a stand against the megacorporation. Along the way, they form alliances with the group of immune individuals, learning to rely on each other's strengths and weaknesses. Together, they devise a plan to infiltrate Eternity Industries' headquarters and sabotage its operations, giving them an opportunity to expose Evelyn's scheme and free the city from her grasp. As they prepare for their final confrontation, Mike, Burt, and Brian understand that they have a long way to go before they can reclaim their lives. Their battle is no longer just about saving their grandma but also reclaiming the lives of countless others who've been trapped in this zombie-like existence.
