What's Your Number?

Plot

Ally Darling, a bright and charming young marketing executive, has it all - a beautiful face, a sassy attitude, and an impressive collection of ex-boyfriends. However, her life takes a drastic turn when she finds herself single and unemployed after her latest relationship comes to an abrupt end. The final nail in the coffin is when Ally is fired from her job, leaving her feeling lost, vulnerable, and unsure of her place in the world. As Ally struggles to come to terms with her new reality, she stumbles upon an article in a magazine that catches her eye. The article warns that women who have had 20 or more lovers are unlikely to find a husband, claiming that a high number of partners is a sign of emotional instability and a lack of commitment. Ally is deeply moved by the article, feeling like it has struck a chord within her. She begins to see herself through the prism of the article, wondering if she's been foolishly chasing one-night stands and shallow relationships without truly connecting with anyone. Determined to prove the article wrong and turn her life around, Ally embarks on a mission to find the perfect mate from among her numerous ex-boyfriends. She creates a list of her 19 former lovers, hoping to rediscover what drew her to each of them in the first place. However, as she sets out to reconnect with her exes, Ally realizes that it won't be as easy as she thought. Her first stop is a handsome but commitment-phobic guy who she had a whirlwind romance with, only to watch him disappear into thin air. Ally is thrilled to see him again, but quickly realizes that he's still stuck in his old ways and isn't willing to be serious about anything. She moves on to her second ex, a quiet bookworm who she had a crush on in high school. As they reconnect, Ally finds herself enjoying his company, but struggles to reconcile her old feelings with the reality of their age difference. As Ally navigates her way through her list of exes, she starts to notice a pattern. Most of them still live in her past, clinging to a version of her that no longer exists. They're stuck in a fantasy world, where Ally is the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed girl she used to be. But Ally has grown up, and she's not the same person anymore. The only ex who seems to see her for who she is now is Colin, the 19th and final guy on her list. Colin is a charming and witty writer, who had a brief but intense romance with Ally that ended abruptly when he left for a job in New York. As they reconnect, Ally finds herself feeling an undeniable spark with Colin. He's the one person who seems to understand her, who sees beyond her facade and connects with the real Ally. As Ally and Colin start to spend more time together, they begin to realize that they have a deep connection. They laugh together, explore the city together, and share their hopes and dreams with each other. For the first time in a long time, Ally feels a sense of belonging and purpose. She sees a future with Colin, one that's filled with possibility and promise. However, their budding relationship is put to the test when Ally's high school crush shows up, bearing a gift and a heartfelt apology for past mistakes. Ally is torn between her old feelings for her crush and her new feelings for Colin. As she struggles to make a decision, she realizes that the article that started it all was right - she was lost, and her string of one-night stands was a cry for help. In the end, Ally chooses Colin, realizing that he's the one person who truly sees her for who she is. He's the one person who accepts her quirks and flaws, and loves her for it. As they stand together, holding hands and looking out at the city, Ally knows that she's finally found her place in the world. She's no longer lost, and she's finally found a love that's real, meaningful, and true.
