In the quaint Japanese town of Kichijoji, where students from different grammar schools stroll hand-in-hand, attend the local shrine's bi-weekly festivals, and grow their passions under affectionate mentors, a young girl named Shizuku Kurusu seeks inspiration and escapism through the world of literature. She is an avid reader and writer, spending her lunchbreaks exploring the towering volumes of the local library and scribbling tales of love and wonder amidst its narrow aisles. Unbeknownst to Shizuku, her life is about to shift with a tantalizing discovery that awakens untapped callings and connects her with a talented young artist from the prestigious Tanba Craft Academy - Seiji Amasawa. Shizuku notices a peculiar detail as she delves deep into her favorite fantasy novels - the check-out cards from the librarian consistently show that all the books she has borrowed have been held by one person before her - Seiji Amasawa. The mention of his name was the initial spark that draws Shizuku to embark on an uncharted adventure, only beginning to unravel the threads of her obsession.
