Their long-standing lives have been defined by their attachment to the legendary axeman, turned human, Xu Xian. It is said that Xu Xian's spirit now resides in the reincarnation of the deceased Axuan, the great warrior from whom legend would have it the people have long benefited. Having spent 500 years apart, Xiaobai and Xu Xian's paths are destined to fold in on one another, an event foretold in their ancient mythology and mystic lore. As the events unfold, Xiaobai finds herself reunited with Xu Xian. The meeting takes place on the historic Broken Bridge, its ancient stones silently bearing witness to the unfolding reunion. As a sign of trust, love and commitment, the white snake sisters resort to living in the crowded streets and labyrinthine alleys of the human world, learning to navigate the intricacies of the complex relationships they have been drawn into. The white snake sisters take refuge with Xu Xian and his brother-in-law, Li Gongfu.
