Wild Wild West

Plot

In the late 19th century, the United States is at a crucial point in its history, with President Ulysses S. Grant struggling to keep the country united. However, there are those who would seek to exploit the divisions and spark a new civil war. Dr. Arliss Loveless, a brilliant but wheelchair-bound Southern inventor, is one such individual. With the help of his diabolical plan, Loveless intends to assassinate President Grant and rekindle the fires of conflict that had been thought to have been extinguished. To stop Loveless and his nefarious schemes, the U.S. government employs the services of James West, a skilled gunslinger, and Artemus Gordon, an ingenious and master-of-disguise inventor. Together, the two men form an unlikely partnership, as they travel across the United States in their high-tech Railgun-equipped train. Gordon, an intelligent, sophisticated, and highly educated man, has an uncanny ability to create disguises and alter his appearance, often using makeup, wigs, and other elaborate costumes. This skill is invaluable in his line of work, allowing him to infiltrate even the most secure and heavily guarded locations. On the other hand, West is a fearless and charismatic gunslinger with a penchant for guns and explosives. Despite his rugged exterior, West has a deep sense of justice and is driven by a strong moral compass. As they make their way across the country, West and Gordon are initially unaware of Loveless' plan to assassinate the President. However, they do learn of a series of mysterious events and murders that seem to be connected to Loveless. Determined to uncover the truth behind these events and bring the perpetrators to justice, the two agents follow a trail of clues that leads them from the dusty streets of the Wild West to the high-society mansions of the East Coast. As they delve deeper into the mystery, West and Gordon discover that Loveless has designed an elaborate plot involving a sophisticated train, a deadly machine gun, and a team of skilled henchmen. They also learn that Loveless is hell-bent on restoring the South to its former glory, even if it means destroying the Union. With their lives on the line, West and Gordon must use all their skills and ingenuity to prevent Loveless from carrying out his plan and save the President from certain death. Throughout their journey, West and Gordon encounter a variety of colorful characters, from ruthless outlaws to cunning con artists. They also have a series of thrilling confrontations with Loveless' henchmen, who will stop at nothing to carry out their leader's orders. With their lives on the line, West and Gordon must use all their cunning, wit, and bravery to outsmart their enemies and stay one step ahead of Loveless' deadly plan. In the end, it is West and Gordon who must face off against Loveless in an epic showdown that determines the fate of the United States. With its blend of action, adventure, science fiction, and humor, the movie is an entertaining and thrilling ride from start to finish, with plenty of clever gadgets, witty banter, and over-the-top stunts.

"This movie is amusing enough, but it's utterly devoid of any genuine surprise or excitement. It's like being parched on a sweltering day and only having lukewarm water to quench your thirst. Better than nothing, but nowhere close to an ice-cold Sprite. Salma Hayek's backside is undeniably a highlight."

This movie is hilarious. It's got everything you could want in a comedy. I've always thought that a well-made comedy is harder to pull off than a serious drama, but most people see "comedy" and automatically knock it down to three stars, no matter how good it actually is.

That shot of Will Smith riding the giant mechanical spider into the sunset is just pure awesome! For that alone, it deserves four stars. But, man, the villain was just too lame. I mean, dissing disabled people like that? Come on! Can't give it more than three and a half stars for that.
