Willow

Plot

In a mystical land on the cusp of war with the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda, the fate of a long-standing dynasty rests in the balance. Against this dark backdrop, a most prophetic revelation surfaces, foretelling the impending doom of the tyrannical ruler. The prophecy speaks of a child, born without a blemish on her body, destined to bring about the end of Queen Bavmorda's reign. As it so happens, the prophesied child has indeed been born, a newborn princess by the name of Elora Danan. However, the evil Queen Bavmorda has been privy to this development, and she seeks to put a swift end to the young one's life, fearing that her very existence poses a threat to her own authority. Bavmorda dispatches her dark sorceress, Sabrina, to hunt down and destroy the prophesied princess, setting in motion a desperate and perilous quest for survival. Meanwhile, a young farmer by the name of Willow resides on the fringes of this epic struggle. Though his name bears the common reference to his profession, Willow is oft at odds with his lot in life. Despite his rugged and rustic appearance, Willow harbors an insatiable passion for magic, dreaming of the day when he might unlock the true depths of his magical potential. Despite his inexperience, Willow's innate curiosity and innate desire for adventure propel him toward the heart of the unfolding drama. It is in Willow's humble village that he first lays eyes on the newborn Elora Danan. He soon learns that the child's presence has drawn the attention of Queen Bavmorda, and that her very existence poses a danger to the entire village. Humbled by the weight of this responsibility, Willow offers to deliver the child to safety, allowing her to grow up free from the Queen's pursuit. At first, the child's presence is marked by unadorned simplicity and ease, serving to foreshadow the trials she will eventually face. Her maternal parent is swiftly driven mad and becomes brutal to herself and to Elora; a harsh fate that leads Willow – motivated by self-preservation and ultimately care for the child, to play protector of the innocent child. One of many encounters with death, Elora is further showcased as ultimately crucial to any ultimate victory because she serves a prop to the prophecy. Elora soon comes into the company of Madmartigan, a gruff but endearing warrior, and Sorsha – the Queen's daughter and an initially impassive accomplice of the tyrannical Queen. Elora finds herself caught amidst multiple alliances, each bearing its own set of intentions and hidden agendas. With her enchanted journey now marked by unpredictable events and inextricably linked fates, a deeply evocative web is spun around the evolving Elora alongside those whose interactions serve as her protective shield. Throughout the perilous journey, Willow grapples with his growing attachment to Elora, at once serving as both protector and nurturer. Madmartigan provides unwavering support to the group, instilling in the villagers an aura of trust amidst the desperation of their situation. Meanwhile, Sorsha carries a secret heartache of her own, torn by an eventual need to disobey her mother in the face of her child's remarkable good and strength. As their quest evolves, a host of characters arrive with the aim of assisting Willow, some well-intentioned and others cynically so. There's Fin Raziel, a magnificent figure with a regal air who takes the form of an owl – teaching Willow to appreciate reality over fantasy, eventually unveiling some knowledge that Willow had previously heard about. One may also mention High Aldwin – Willow's wise and cautious teacher who places much trust in the young one, given their mystical abilities and potential powers for good. Growing increasingly despondent in the grand scheme of things, Willow grapples with his existence. However, the protection – displayed in selflessness and resolve by the child that stands out amidst dark inevitability – transforms a key point in his future path as he navigates love and courage, finding companions in an enchanting fellow who continues navigating between reality and prophecy. Their ultimate destination remains both alluring and treacherous – the foreboding realm of the Danu Singa, an unassailable location that exists on the boundary between the warring realms of good and evil. Each and every step taken by Willow, Sorsha and company, comes at a greater cost, leading to one of the few truly resonant conclusive encounters witnessed in genre cinema. Ultimately, the line separating love from duty blurs as the entourage arrives at the battle-scarred and shunned fortress, finally and ultimately, where prophecies unfold into their predestined conclusions – ushering the fate of this all-encompassing land into hopeful renewal under an unwavering wind of profound devotion to her newly adopted sister-brother family.

If only they had cast someone else instead of Yu Rongguang, this would have been perfect. The romance between Brigitte Lin and Joey Wong can be interpreted in any way you like, be it male-female, male-male, or female-female. It's all-sexual fantasy, tailor-made for your imagination!
