Work It

Plot
In the Disney+ original film Work It, talented high school senior Quinn Ackerman is facing a daunting challenge. Following the loss of her estranged father, Quinn's mother forces her to attend the same prep school where her father studied and later coached. Although Quinn has always considered this school an unlikely fit, her mother convinces her that securing a spot at the school in particular will keep her father's memory and family legacy alive. However, when Quinn discovers that the school requires applicants to showcase their athletic prowess in the auditions, Quinn is disheartened. Desperate to change her fate, Quinn comes across a local dance crew competing on a reality television show and decides to transform herself and the misfit high school dance team, The Crew, into top dance contenders as a means to get accepted into her father's alma mater. In her mission to become a talented dance champion, Quinn enlists the help of her high school friends Lisa, Brianna, and Jessica. Lisa is a tech-savvy member who provides expert analysis of the competition and helps Quinn master dance moves; Brianna is a confident and charismatic dancer, but one struggling with stage fright; and Jessica is more experienced in cheerleading but eager to prove her dancing abilities. Through teamwork and relentless practice, Quinn transforms The Crew into an exceptional dance team capable of winning a national dance competition. As they gain momentum, Quinn starts to win over her schoolmates and gain respect from her classmates. With each successful performance, Quinn grows to appreciate her teammates' hidden talents and the camaraderie develops among the group. However, Quinn's newfound confidence and obsession with winning come at a personal cost. The pressure of maintaining her newfound dance form and perfecting her moves becomes immense. To keep up this facade, Quinn's grades suffer as a result of over-reliance on a dance tutor, causing her academic performance to decline. The tension grows as Quinn struggles to keep up the act, knowing she must eventually let her team know about her failing grades. Meanwhile, Quinn meets Josh, a charming and genuine outsider who befriends Quinn and encourages her to pursue genuine friendships rather than only focusing on dance. He helps Quinn to confront the reality that her obsession may be consuming her and causing harm to The Crew and her own relationships. With Josh's support and The Crew's unwavering loyalty, Quinn eventually understands the true value of her friendships and learns to balance her academic and dance ambitions. On auditions day, Quinn realizes her true strengths and values lie within her school spirit and her friendships with her teammates, rather than relying solely on her performance as a dance champion. The Crew decides to showcase a fun and unique routine reflecting their unique personalities and shared experiences. In the end, The Crew's authentic and heartfelt performance captures the heart of the competition judges, ultimately securing Quinn's admission to her father's alma mater, proving that their teamwork and friendship are more valuable and memorable than their dance skills.
