Plot

In the hilarious comedy "Wrongfully Accused", Ryan Harrison (played by Leslie Nielsen), a world-renowned violinist, is living his best life as a rockstar. He's got the talent, the looks, and the charm - making him a sex symbol of sorts. However, Ryan is not a bad guy at heart; he genuinely doesn't want to cheat on Lauren Goodhue (played by Kelly LeBrock), the wife of his music agent, with her. Tragedy strikes when Mr. Goodhue, Lauren's husband, is found murdered, and suddenly, Ryan finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation. The police, led by Detective Rita Fiore (played by Priscilla Presley), are convinced that Ryan is the prime suspect, and he becomes the target of their scrutiny. As the investigation unfolds, Ryan must navigate his way through a series of wacky misadventures to clear his name and prove his innocence. Along the way, he encounters a cast of eccentric characters, including a flamboyant fashion designer (played by Richard Lewis), a bumbling detective (played by James Earl Jones), and even a cameo appearance from David Graf's goofy character from the "Police Academy" franchise. Throughout the film, Ryan uses his wit, charm, and musical talents to deflect suspicion and uncover the truth. With plenty of slapstick humor, witty one-liners, and over-the-top performances, "Wrongfully Accused" is a hilarious send-up of the murder mystery genre that will leave audiences laughing out loud.

A classic spoof of *The Fugitive*. Back in 2003, during the SARS epidemic, I was cooped up at home everyday preparing for the Gaokao. I managed to squeeze in some time to watch it, and it absolutely cracked me up.

The potency of the urine-soaked cloth's fumes is truly horrific.

Despite achieving fame with nonsensical comedies like "The Naked Gun," Leslie Nielsen in this film, compared to himself a decade prior, appears visibly aged and moves with less agility, making many of the comedic bits feel forced. With a plot centered around a "on the run" parody, and even the protagonist's name – Ryan Harrison (Ryan from Jack Ryan's espionage thrillers) – being a blend of Harrison Ford elements, what stands out most is the "Usual Suspects" reference: the name-fabricated confession culminating in a shattering coffee cup. Two and a half stars.

Rewatching it, I'm still impressed by how clever Leslie Nielsen was. The movie spoofs so many films, especially that hospital scene where he's stuck to the wall – I was laughing my head off!

Ryan Harrison, a charismatic violinist, becomes embroiled in a murder investigation when his lover's husband is found dead. As he navigates the complex web of suspects and motives, Harrison's innocence is put to the test. With its witty humor and clever plot twists, Wrongfully Accused delivers a satirical take on the thriller genre. Leslie Nielsen's deadpan humor shines as he sends up the tropes of film noir, creating a delightfully absurd cinematic experience.
