X-Men: Days of Future Past

Plot

In a dystopian future, mutants are hunted by ruthless machines and enslaved by humanity. The X-Men are all but extinct, forced to live in secret, and their dwindling numbers make it a struggle to maintain what's left of their kind. It's 2023, and the Sentinels, the key to wiping out the mutant threat, have become the norm. These advanced machines are nearly indestructible, efficient, and the primary reason for the X-Men's downfall. One crucial figure from the past, a young Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, played by Reynolds, is missing in action. Another missing figure is Kitty Pryde, a skilled, young mutant with the ability to phase through solid objects. Raven Darkholme (Mystique), a mutant with the power of shape-shifting, is said to be responsible for the death of the Bolivar Trask, the inventor of the Sentinels. It is revealed that Raven, aware of Trask's plans to kill all mutants, took his life by killing him where she pretended to be Peter Daw, Trask's assistant, in an attempt to protect herself and others. Her decision led to the dire state of the future. In the desperate attempt to prevent this catastrophic future from taking place, a small band of surviving X-Men sends a group of mutants to a mission in China operated by Magneto, a mutant mastermind. In this final push, they are attempting to initiate a global nuclear holocaust, knowing it will trigger a world war that the time displaced mutants have traveled to prevent by reorganizing the world prior to the creation of The Sentinels. Meanwhile, in the present timeline, a group of X-Men, including Kitty Pryde, Jean Grey, and Colossus, travel back in time to the 1960s to change the course of history. They devise a plan that was formed in the 2000s by Professor Charles Xavier, in an effort to prevent the catastrophic future from occurring. Once in the 1960s, the X-Men and their companions meet and begin a mission where they encounter Charles Xavier, a brilliant but reclusive young man who remains secluded following the loss of his loved one, Raven Darkholme, who was sent to spy on and disrupt Trask's robot's inception in the hopes she would facilitate a short-sided strategic in regards to his future murder. However, the team is incomplete without someone crucial, and that's where the time-displaced Professor Xavier comes in, since at this point in the timeline of the movie, the Professor Xavier in the 1960s would be his younger version. The mission that this mission in the 1960s would set their plan into motion, altering the course of the timeline, ensuring that Raven's actions in the future are not in consequence and altering the course of events that puts her life before the killing of Trask and at second thought on why she was placed in that tricky position which all occurred because of Bolivar Trask's relentless will to execute Trask's end game with mutants.
