Your Mother's Son

Plot
The movie begins with Sarah, a determined and resourceful middle-aged woman, navigating the challenges of making ends meet for her family. She works tirelessly, teaching online courses and taking on multiple jobs to ensure that her 15-year-old son Emman is provided for. Despite her best efforts, Emman is often distant and unfocused, struggling to find his place in the world. Sarah's life takes a dramatic turn when she invites one of her online students, Oliver, into her home. Oliver, who has been the victim of his abusive and violent father, has nowhere else to go, and Sarah offers him refuge. Initially, the decision seems to have no significant impact on the family dynamics. However, as time passes, Sarah begins to notice subtle but profound changes in Emman's behavior. At first, Emman is wary of Oliver, who has a more polished and put-together demeanor. As Oliver settles into the household, he and Emman begin to bond over their shared struggles. The two boys find common ground in their respective difficult home lives, and their conversations gradually lead to a deeper understanding and empathy for one another. As the two boys spend more time together, Emman becomes increasingly fascinated with Oliver's seemingly perfect exterior. Despite Oliver's kindness and generosity, Emman can't shake the feeling that he's an intruder in Sarah's life. He begins to wonder if Oliver is truly a friend or just a replacement for the absent love and attention he craves from his own mother. Meanwhile, Sarah is grappling with her own feelings about Oliver's presence in their home. As she grows closer to her student, she starts to question the boundaries between teacher and pupil. Her emotions are further complicated by the fact that Oliver is starting to take on a paternal role towards Emman, offering words of encouragement and advice. As the tension between Emman and Oliver builds, tensions between Sarah and Emman escalate. Emman sees Oliver as a threat to their bond, believing that Oliver is trying to steal the attention of the only parent he's left with. Their argument reaches a boiling point, and Sarah finds herself caught in the middle, struggling to mediate the conflict between her two children. In a heart-wrenching climax, Emman lashes out at Oliver, accusing him of being fake and manipulative. Oliver, who has grown to care for Emman, takes the attack personally, and their friendship begins to crumble. Sarah, devastated by the destruction of the fragile bond between her two children, is left to pick up the pieces and wonder if she'll ever be able to restore the peace that once reigned in their household. In the aftermath of the confrontation, Sarah is forced to confront her own insecurities and fears about her ability to care for her son. As she reflects on her decisions and the impact they've had on Emman, she begins to realize that she's been trying to compensate for her own lack of parenting by trying to be a substitute teacher for Emman. Ultimately, Sarah's realization sets her on a path towards self-discovery and growth. She begins to confront her own flaws and weaknesses as a mother, acknowledging the ways in which she's failed her son. In a poignant and redemptive conclusion, Sarah finally opens herself up to Oliver and Emman, sharing her fears and insecurities with them. As the three of them begin to rebuild their relationships, the camera pans out, suggesting a new beginning for the trio.
