Zombeavers

Plot
In the midst of a summer break, a group of college friends decide to embark on a carefree weekend retreat to a riverside cabin. Their intention is to indulge in a weekend of sex, drinking, and debauchery, away from the confines of their academic responsibilities. Among the group are Marisha (Rachel Melvin), an outgoing and flirtatious college student, as well as her boyfriend Bret (Chad Anderson), who initially seems enthusiastic about the weekend getaway. However, upon arriving at the secluded cabin, they meet two other students - Marisha's best friend, Jenny (Cortney Palm), and her boyfriend, Matt (Ronnie Gene Blevins). Also joining the group are two friends from Bret's fraternity - Lance (Alexandra Pacula) and a quiet, brooding individual named Jake (Jason Gallagher). Together, the group sets out to indulge in an uninhibited weekend. At first, their intentions seem unfulfilled. As the group tries to start a bonfire to create a party atmosphere, they become increasingly frustrated due to a lack of firewood. However, their problems are far from being just trivial. A series of unexpected gruesome events unfold as the group soon discovers that their peaceful weekend has turned into a descent into chaos. Their problems start when, during a nighttime expedition to gather firewood, they come across a beehive hidden near a nearby river. Jake, in an attempt to obtain honey from the beehive, inadvertently releases a virus that has infected the surrounding beaver population. As the infected beavers start dying, their cadavers begin to float down the river, heading straight for the cabin where the group is residing. As the night descends further, the group begins to unravel a gruesome and inexplicable chain of events. Dead, rotting beavers start showing up along the shore near the cabin, their bodies riddled with a strange fluid that seems to infect and turn the beavers into grotesque, zombie-like creatures. These infected creatures quickly rise from the dead and begin devouring each other, as well as any other living being in their vicinity. Despite witnessing the horror, the group is at first oblivious to the danger that lies ahead. Marisha tries to convince Jake that the infected beavers are merely a result of some sort of freak accident. Her attempt to rationalize the situation is later undermined when they find evidence of beaver attacks on other nearby structures. The situation quickly spirals out of control as the group realizes that they are faced with an unprecedented zombie apocalypse. The infected beavers multiply at an alarming rate, making it clear that they are the only thing in their way to survival. The once carefree weekend getaway transforms into a desperate fight for survival. As Marisha's group struggles to comprehend the gravity of their situation, their relationships with one another are put to the test. Tensions rise as they realize that their individual actions might not only endanger themselves but also others. Jake is increasingly plagued by his conscience for inadvertently unleashing the zombified beavers. In a climactic confrontation, Jake confronts Bret about his lack of understanding regarding the danger posed by the beavers. His words of wisdom prove to be prophetic, warning Bret that they are running out of time. Their conversation is short-lived, as a swarming horde of zombie beavers interrupts them and the group is forced to flee from their cabin for their lives. During their desperate attempt to escape, a harrowing and violent battle unfolds. Marisha and her friends face off against a tide of ferocious beavers, trying to carve a path through the forest and back to safety. Along the way, the group undergoes significant changes in dynamics. The survivors are forced to form tighter bonds to survive in a perilous environment where their own survival hangs by a thread. The thrilling, action-packed scenes bring to a close a nightmarish scenario in which no one seems immune to the wrath of the infected beavers. Marisha's group finds an abandoned house to regroup in, where they realize they will have to wait until daylight before they can safely escape the zombie beavers.
