In a dystopian, not-too-distant future, the world has been ravaged by environmental disasters and economic collapse. With resources scarce, people are forced to take extreme measures to make a living. The once-blue skies are now a hazy, greyish-brown, and the air is thick with pollutants. Amidst this bleak backdrop, a father-daughter duo, Cee (played by Sophie Thatcher) and Ezra (played by Luke Mitchell), embark on a perilous journey to the remote alien moon of Kepler-62f, or "Prospect" for short. Their mission is to harvest a valuable deposit of rare, otherworldly gems, known as "heirloom," which can be sold for a handsome profit on the black market. As they prepare to leave, Cee is seen packing their meager belongings – essentially a few clothes, supplies, and the gear necessary for their mission. The pair boards their rickety spaceship, the "Terra Firma," and takes off into the unknown. Their destination is a moon that's hostile to human life, with a toxic environment, acid rain, and creatures that are far from welcoming. The father-daughter duo's motivations for leaving Earth are complex and nuanced. Ezra, it's revealed, was a former soldier who saw the devastating effects of war firsthand.
