In the quaint village of Moodori, nestled in the rural mountains of Gangwando, South Korea, the lives of its residents were simplicity personified. Among the village's elderly residents stood three men who had grown to become the bedrock of Moodori's community - Bong-Gi, Hae-Gu, and Bang-Yun. Their days were spent enjoying their peaceful surroundings, sharing stories, and reminiscing about the good old days. These three friends lived life to the fullest, despite their advanced age, each contributing to the village's vibrancy in their own unique way. But fate, it seemed, had other plans for Moodori's tranquility. One fateful day, a young man's lifeless body was discovered in the woods, a victim of his own hand. Initially, the villagers were shocked and saddened by the tragic event, but as the investigation began, a disturbing truth was revealed: the young man was the webmaster of a secretive online platform that facilitated group-assisted suicides. It turned out that Moodori's remote location and serene landscape had attracted this individual's attention, and he had chosen the village as his final destination. However, word of the village's unfortunate connection to this group spread online, and before long, Moodori became an unlikely hotbed for people seeking to end their lives. The village's once-peaceful streets were now filled with the quiet desperation of individuals from all walks of life, drawn to the place where their online webmaster had taken his own life. It was amidst this eerie transformation that Bong-Gi, Hae-Gu, and Bang-Yun saw an opportunity too good to pass up. They had always believed that their village's serene natural beauty was worth sharing with the world, and now, with its morbid allure, Moodori was about to become a unique destination that would attract visitors in droves. The three friends hatched a plan to capitalize on the village's newfound notoriety, opening an inn designed specifically to cater to the influx of travelers drawn to Moodori. Initially, the idea was met with skepticism by the other villagers, who were both disturbed and disheartened by the village's new status. However, Bong-Gi, Hae-Gu, and Bang-Yun were unwavering in their decision, determined to turn their inn into a sanctuary for those seeking a dignified end to their lives. They named their inn "Samchon" (or "the three friends" in Korean), a poignant reminder of their friendship and shared vision. As more and more individuals arrived in Moodori, Bong-Gi, Hae-Gu, and Bang-Yun's inn became a sanctuary of sorts. Guests would check in, often under pseudonyms, and the three friends would listen to their stories, empathize with their struggles, and treat them with kindness and respect. The inn's staff would offer a comforting presence, knowing that they, too, were once at the crossroads of life and death, and now were willing to provide solace to those on the brink. Despite the dark premise, "Moodori" (though the film may be named after the village it is actually called "I'll Find You on a Gone-Day") tells a poignant story about human resilience, compassion, and the power of connection in the face of unimaginable pain. Through the lens of Bong-Gi, Hae-Gu, and Bang-Yun's inn, we see that even in the darkest moments of life, there is hope to be found, and that even the most unlikely of places can become a sanctuary for the human spirit. Over time, the inn's guests began to form a sort of community, bound together by their shared experience and their gratitude toward the three friends who had welcomed them into their lives. It was almost as if the village of Moodori had become an unlikely beacon of hope for those who had lost their way, reminding them that even in the darkest of times, there is still a place for redemption and peace.
