Rogue

Trama

In the scorching Australian outback, a group of tourists finds themselves in the midst of an unyielding encounter with a monstrous predator. The movie, Rogue, is a tense and suspenseful disaster film that brings together a group of individuals from different walks of life on a perilous adventure that threatens to leave none of them unscathed. The story unfolds as a boat, the "Lady Luck" captained by Terry O'Quinn's character, Mitchell Anderson, cruises along a remote and picturesque river. The tourists on board are a diverse and international group, each with their own personal struggles and motivations. Among them are American tourists Peter (Radha Mitchell) and Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell, again), who have a strained relationship and are trying to reconnect. There's also a group of school kids on a field trip led by Mr. Scott (Adrian Pang), as well as a family consisting of father, David (Steve Bisley) and his young son, Danny (Clement McGregor). The seemingly idyllic setting is disrupted as the travelers notice a massive saltwater crocodile lurking in the water. The creature, a monstrous rogue, has an insatiable appetite for human flesh and will stop at nothing to claim its prey. As the boat's engine conks out due to a faulty propeller shaft, the group frantically works to repair it. In the process, they inadvertently drift into the jaws of the deadly predator. A frantic effort to free the boat ends up leaving it stranded, but not before a few passengers can safely disembark onto a narrow mud island. The tourists soon realize that their escape route has been cut off, and the tide is rapidly rising, rendering them trapped on the tiny island. Panic starts to set in as the group assesses their dire situation. As darkness encroaches, the passengers begin to suspect that Mitchell's reckless actions, in particular, contributed to their predicament. The group, consisting of seasoned hunters and outdoorsmen, as well as complete novices, finds themselves at odds over how to tackle their problem. Some try to devise a plan to catch or fend off the beast, while others panic and question the captain's leadership. Peter, Kate and their friends, who try to make light of the situation, start to get anxious and terrified as they try to navigate their situation and get away. The crocodile begins its stalking, making them face the terrifying realisation that they are completely at the mercy of this giant killer. Panic sets in with growing darkness as they become trapped with no escape. As they frantically work on constructing shelters, starting fires, and hunting for food, tensions rise between the group members. It quickly becomes evident that Mitchell's leadership style is at the core of the disagreements. Peter is the one trying to reason things out, Kate's the one trying to keep things together, while a schoolteacher and the hunters try to make do with the meager resources they have. Meanwhile, the enormous crocodile closes in on its unsuspecting prey with growing speed. It's no longer a question of 'if' the group will be attacked but 'when' and 'how badly'. One wrong move is all that is required for the situation to turn into complete devastation. Despite the chaos, amidst it all Peter and Kate find an emotional bond as they work together in desperate hope of escaping this desperate survival test they're put through.
