あらすじ

Above the Gorge lies a clichéd love story, while below, it's a quick and shallow adventure with action sequences. The script feels like it's from over a decade ago, resulting in a sense of outdatedness for contemporary viewers. A somewhat redeeming aspect is the creature aesthetics, reminiscent of "Annihilation," featuring fused flora and fauna (though I wish there was more of it). The overall narrative resembles how many low-budget online films here still imitate Hong Kong genre movies from the last century. With a solid foundation in mature cinematic craftsmanship, it's not terrible but far from exceptional. It's the kind of small-screen movie where the action scenes are slick and efficient, the romance feels perfunctory, and the audience is simply there for entertainment.

Leevy's bullet shattered De Laussa's bottle, the shards of glass refracting the moonlight into a galaxy of patterns – two lone stars in the wasteland writing love letters with ballistic trajectories. The most profound aspect is the tenderness within the violence: a Christmas tree made of shell casings, a snowman embracing a name tag, rabbit pie baked with the warmth of a gun barrel. He launches bouquets with rocket launchers, weaves birthday fireworks with machine-gun fire, and turns the roar of artillery into a drum kit. When the cable snaps amidst the explosions, De Laussa's leap becomes the most beautifully romantic escape from institutional discipline. Leevy writes "The night shattered because of her" on his manuscript, and we suddenly realize, those suppressed by signal jammers...

Popcorn entertainment, somewhat wasting the setting. The Gorge should have been an effective metaphor, a symbol of the fear of the unknown. And the nuclear anxieties left over from the 1940s bunker and the ideological confrontation between the two major camps (as evidenced by the final explosion scene) are all just serving the visuals, turning it into a shallow romantic action film. Emotion is replaced by melodrama, conspiracy is deconstructed into special effects, and nuclear fear mutates into a Cthulhu monster. BTW: Still, I quite liked the portrayal of the relationship between the two leads, and their PK hobby on the towers across the Gorge, staging "The Queen's Gambit" and "Whiplash" respectively, it was undoubtedly...

Still has that algorithmic feel, definitely a streaming-era product. But Anya is truly radiantly beautiful.
