Adventureland

It's the summer of 1987, and for James Brennan, life should be perfect. He's graduated from college, and the entire world is at his fingertips. But, with his college education and his family's expectations weighing heavily on him, James feels lost and uncertain about his future. The only thing he knows for sure is that he needs to find something to do with his summer break. After being rejected from his dream job – a position at a major corporation – James is faced with the harsh reality that he's no longer a college student, but rather an unemployed and aimless young adult. His parents, hoping to keep him at a stable and secure location, inform him that they've booked him a trip to Europe. However, James has other plans. In a moment of desperation, James lands a job at Adventureland, a local amusement park in the suburbs of Long Island, New York. For James, Adventureland represents a chance to prove to himself and others that he's ready for the real world. He envisions it as a stepping stone to greater things, a temporary fix that will give him the confidence and skills he needs to tackle more substantial challenges.
