Plot

Amit Trivedi, a 32-year-old blind pianist, is navigating his mundane life in modern-day Delhi. Despite his blindness, Amit has an extraordinary sense of hearing and can play the piano with uncanny proficiency. His talents do not go unnoticed and he is frequently approached by wealthy clients who request his performances for high-stakes parties and events. Amit's life takes an unexpected turn when one evening, while performing for a wealthy couple at their mansion, he inadvertently stumbles upon a gruesome scene. He discovers the dead body of the couple's host, Mr. Pramod Pawar, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Amit immediately becomes aware of the gravity of the situation, sensing the presence of violence that has transpired. However, in his blindness, Amit did not actually "see" the crime take place. Confused and frightened, Amit quickly exits the mansion, unsure of what to do next. His life is turned upside down when the police arrive and begin investigating the case. As they ask questions and gather evidence, they mistakenly believe that Amit witnessed the murder, and he becomes caught up in the crime scene. Enter Sohum Shah, a charismatic and wealthy playboy who is somehow linked to the mansion and had been in the vicinity earlier that evening. He is quick to take an interest in Amit and his situation, seemingly offering support and help to the bewildered pianist. What follows is a cat-and-mouse game between the three main characters as they navigate a complex web of intrigue and deceit. As Amit becomes increasingly entangled in the mystery, he begins to form connections with the police investigators who are working on the case. Officer Sakshi (Tabu) is a seasoned and astute investigator who takes a particular interest in Amit's account of events. Together with her partner, Suresh (Namen Patel), they meticulously examine every aspect of the crime scene, trying to unravel the threads of the mystery. Meanwhile, Amit finds himself torn between his loyalty to Sohum, who seems to be on his side, and the growing distrust he develops towards the charismatic stranger. The tension is palpable as Amit starts to sense that Sohum's intentions may not be entirely pure. In a clever twist, Amit finds himself caught in a world of double-crossings and hidden agendas. With his unique auditory perspective, Amit starts to piece together clues and fragments of information that reveal a more sinister plot. He realizes that the murder may have been just the tip of the iceberg, with a web of secrets and lies surrounding it. As he navigates his way through the complex narrative, Amit finds himself in a desperate bid to clear his own name and uncover the truth behind the crime. In the thrilling climax, Amit's determination to solve the mystery leads him to the unexpected revelation of a surprising culprit. Just as Amit begins to confront the truth behind Sohum's true intentions, the enigmatic stranger's motivations are finally laid bare, exposing a shocking backstory that reveals the events that led to the murder. Shot in a muted color palette, the visually striking film makes brilliant use of Amit's blindness to create a world of heightened senses. Director Sriram Raghavan expertly weaves together a complex narrative, leveraging Amit's unique perspective to unravel the mystery. With impeccable performances from the cast and direction that is masterful by every measure, Andhadhun offers a gripping crime thriller that is as captivating as it is suspenseful. In the end, Amit's extraordinary hearing has been both his greatest strength and his most crippling weakness. As he emerges from his ordeal with a newfound understanding of himself and the world around him, Amit finally begins to see a glimmer of hope. Though his eyes may remain blind, his heart and mind are now sharper, and he embarks on a journey towards a brighter future, armed with the knowledge that will change him forever.
