The Losers

The Losers

Plot

In "The Losers", a group of skilled operatives, known as the Losers, are sent on a mission to retrieve a valuable package from a Bolivian jungle hideout. However, their operation quickly turns sour when they realize that one of their own has betrayed them, resulting in a series of brutal and unexpected attacks. As the team struggles to regroup and reassess their situation, they are left for dead by their supposed allies and enemies alike. But the Losers refuse to go quietly into the night. Led by Clay (Jason Patric), Jensen (Chris Evans), Fu Pax (Derek Luke), Aisha (Zoe Saldana), and Parker (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the group sets out to clear their names, seek revenge against those who wronged them, and uncover the truth behind their failed mission. As they navigate the treacherous jungle landscape, the Losers cross paths with a mysterious operative named Ais (Helen Mirren), who seems to have her own agenda. With her help, they embark on a perilous quest for redemption and justice, facing off against ruthless mercenaries, corrupt government agents, and other deadly foes along the way. Throughout their journey, the Losers must confront their own personal demons and learn to trust each other if they hope to survive. With its non-stop action, witty banter, and pulse-pounding suspense, "The Losers" is a thrilling ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Is the leader just for show? The Jaguar's a nice touch, adding an extra star for that!

7.0/10. Rewatched on May 23, 2024. FRA French Blu-ray. The plot is smooth, and the pacing is tight. Still entertaining. The action and special effects are pretty bargain-bin, though... Americans saving the world again, quelle surprise. Feels like a low-rent version of *The A-Team*. This one's based on the DC comic, by the way.

Top-notch performances, a killer script, and a so-so director. Add in a collection of black-ops badasses and some spectacularly explosive airplane-bombing action, and you've got a highly effective, entertaining action-thriller. Three and a half stars.

The losers in this Bolivian jungle aren't just facing a leaky helicopter—every team has a traitor, and the real danger is how we laugh at their chaotic downfall while staying complicit in power plays that mirror our own.
