Babe

Plot
Set on a picturesque Australian farm, 'Babe' is a heartwarming tale of self-discovery and perseverance. The story revolves around a litter of piglets, where one particularly remarkable piglet is the protagonist, Babe. From the onset, Babe exhibits a unique inclination towards the world around him, often observing and mimicking the behaviors of the other farm animals. Babe's diverse group of friends plays a significant role in his developmental journey. One of the most notable friends is Ferdinand, the duck, who not only boasts a distinctive limp but also harbors a misconception that he is actually a rooster. Ferdinand's eccentricities, along with his unwavering loyalty, make him a close companion to Babe and a loyal friend. Another crucial member in Babe's support system is Fly, a Border Collie who pretends to be a mother to Babe. With unparalleled dedication and the tenderness of a mother, Fly provides the young piglet with protection, care, and essential guidance in navigating the societal norms of the farm. Upon introduction to the Merinos, Babe sets his eyes on becoming the lead sheep pig. This role is quite significant on Hoggett's farm, as the Master Sheep Herder deems the sheep handling competition to be an essential annual event. Consequently, Babe's mother has spoken on the difficulties of being a sheepdog handler, although one particular name pops up at times still - Hoggett knows the key to winning over the Merinos lies in whoever holds the position of "handler", being nothing short of effective. As time progresses, Babe comes to learn essential sheep herding skills under the tutelage of the old sheepdogs, Rex, Maa, and Fly. Guided by their wisdom and teaching, Babe sets to work diligently practicing the art of chasing after the Merinos, eventually finding that harmony and synchronization between the young pig and the flock could be quite successful. Will Babe's determination, his newfound skills, and his unwavering enthusiasm succeed in securing a place among the experienced sheepdogs? The tale of 'Babe' teaches children and adults alike a powerful lesson about accepting and welcoming differences while harnessing the unique capabilities each being possesses, opening the door to potential and transformation. Babe eventually shines on the farms sheep handling day. There's deep acceptance of him from the hands of the much elder of a sheep dog named Rex and his gentle realisation on a young strong sheepdog named Fly and ultimately through his own experiences Babe has proved that the person you are or will be, as successful in the competitions as he is only based on potential - potential best suited in whatever role these creatures would find strength into.

Even a pig can dream of becoming a sheepdog.

Not bad, the pig is quite adorable. Especially the two Border Collies and that flock of silly sheep, haha.

A children's film in style, but not at all childish. It's a divine film! How did they make an anthropomorphic movie with animals as the main characters so vividly? The little pig is incredibly innocent and very cute, and the heartwarming interaction with the sheepdogs is deeply touching. The Chinese dubbing is exceptionally well done, and James Cromwell's performance is remarkable.
