Becky

Plot

Becky is a 2020 American slasher film directed by Jonathan and JP Sparrow and written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. The movie takes place in a remote lake house, where Becky's (Lulu Wilson) weekend with her father, Jefferson (Kevin James), turns into a desperate fight for survival. The story begins with Becky, a rebellious and resourceful high school student, and her father, a former law enforcement officer now struggling to connect with his daughter. They embark on a weekend getaway to a secluded lake house, hoping to strengthen their bond through some quality time together. The tension between them is palpable as they navigate their complex relationship. On their arrival, they discover that the house is isolated, surrounded by dense woods and a long driveway. The tranquility of their surroundings is short-lived, as a police patrol car is ambushed, and two convicts, Travis (A.J. Bowen) and Vince (John Brennan), escape from custody. Unbeknownst to Becky and Jefferson, these escaped prisoners are headed straight for their remote lake house, which turns out to be the former home of one of the convicts. As night begins to fall, the pair settle in for a relaxing evening. However, the peace is shattered when Travis and Vince arrive at the house, along with two accomplices, Matt (Austin Abrams) and Dustin (Dean Weigandt). The group of convicts has no intention of causing any harm but demands that Becky and Jefferson take care of them, providing them with food, shelter, and other basic necessities. Initially cooperative, Becky and Jefferson soon realize they are the victims of a twisted situation. The group's expectations escalate from basic necessities to extreme demands, including access to the house's safe, which they believe contains cash. This discovery sets off a chain of violent events as the convicts begin to exact their control over the household. As tensions rise, the house becomes a war zone. Becky, determined to protect her father, uses her cunning and resourcefulness to try and outsmart the convicts. She forages for tools and uses her knowledge of the house to outwit and evade the group. Meanwhile, Jefferson struggles to cope with the trauma of his past, further complicating their bond. Throughout the chaos, an intense power struggle intensifies between Becky and the group. As her father fails her, the responsibility shifts to Becky, who must take charge of the situation. Using every trick in her book, she attempts to hold the convicts off and keep herself and her father safe. Travis and Vince initially emerge as seemingly benevolent members of the group, however, their true intentions are later revealed, showcasing their sadistic nature. As the situation escalates, Becky's tactics grow more aggressive, reflecting her desperation to keep her father alive. The movie's narrative takes a darker turn when Becky realizes her father has a hidden safe containing money, which inadvertently fuels the convicts' violent behavior. The situation spirals out of control as Becky and her father make a desperate attempt to escape the house. Ultimately, Becky's resourcefulness and determination are put to the test in a violent showdown against the group of convicts. With the stakes at their highest, Becky must confront the harsh realities of violence, trauma, and survival to ensure her own safety and protect her father. In the end, Becky manages to outsmart the group, showcasing resilience and bravery. Her newfound understanding of her own strength serves as a poignant conclusion to an intense and suspenseful narrative.
