The story picks up forty years after the events of the original film. Axel Foley, now an older and wiser Detroit cop, receives a mysterious phone call that draws him back to the city of his first major case - Beverly Hills. The recipient of the call is an old acquaintance, now high-ranking police official Jenny Sullivan, who has a delicate situation on her hands.
