Captain Marvel

set in the mid-1990s, captain marvel tells the story of carol danvers, an air force fighter pilot who finds herself at the forefront of an intergalactic war. the film begins with carol living a relatively mundane life on the planet monaco, although not where she was living when the actual timeline of the film occurred, she is working for a top secret government program known as starforce, led by yon-roga, searching for the tihen corporation's Kree artifacts. carol danvers, nicknamed "verse", is a vastly skilled and talented fighter pilot. during her time with the starforce on hulka's planet, her abilities were altered, and she becomes one of the universe's most formidable warriors after being caught in the midst of an explosion which results in the transfusion of yon-roga's otherworldly energy into her body; transforming her into an entirely new entity. her capabilities now rival those of yon-roga, as carol understands and comes to terms with her changed self, learning to harness this incredible energy that had been infused within her. these new powers give her a choice as to which side to side with in the galaxy: the Kree, who seek to eradicate the Xandarians or protect their species when a similar catastrophe occurred to their own to those which occurred during xandar as the same catastrophe had engulfed monaco and starforce, leaving Xandar on the cusp of extinction with her, while the Xandaran she lives among hold much resentment and disdain for these the invading entities that appear as aggressive invaders which appear to justify wanton invasion and the complete erasure of sentient life. as carol delves deeper into her past and her connection to the Kree, she starts questioning her allegiances and identity. along the way, she crosses paths with mar-vell, a legendary Kree warrior who has been frozen for millennia and rescued by carol from the ice - the legendary Xandaran friend that sparked an old bond from her past; his amnesia brings the forgotten friendship that stoked within her dormant memories back to life. They join hands with nick fury of the s.h.i.e.l.d. in fight to locate the last remaning yon-roga unit now on the planet known monaco, also known as Hulka, after inadvertently aiding carol's unstructured Kree transformations with an unbalanced force, even initiating an attack on a major planet, in an effort to gain information on how to reverse the results of yon-roga's experiments for nick, which puts her naturally on odds with her alien group who had initially shielded her. meanwhile, their individual plight crosses paths with those of the rogue fighter, yon-roga, who controls a massive craft monogramed "ben rhyader", upon which both monaco invasion and their mass exodus, carol learns to control and bring to justice those that represent an overwhelming catastrophic expansion against monaco, fueled by her resentment for Yon-Roga's actions towards the former friends now dying in her galaxy either already destroyed by Yon-Rogas forces,or still in harms way.
