Dumb and Dumber

Lloyd Christmas, a lovable and dim-witted limousine driver, works for a company run by his fellow acquaintance, Joe Mentalino. Lloyd's life is mundane, and he finds himself single, stuck at a dead-end job, and stuck in a small apartment. Harry Dunne, Lloyd's odd-looking and equally dim-witted friend, lives next door to him in Providence, Rhode Island. The two men are not the brightest, often causing chaos and stumbling from one mishap to the next. One day, Lloyd and Harry witness a beautiful woman, Mary Swanson, preparing to leave for Aspen, Colorado. Mary's pet hairdresser, a frazzled woman named Betty, inadvertently gives them the wrong instructions, informing them that Mary is staying at a hotel in Baltimore. Confused and on a mission to send the suitcase to her, Lloyd and Harry embark on a cross-country journey to return it. Along the way, they encounter a host of eccentric characters and have a series of misadventures. During their travels, the two friends become increasingly obsessed with Mary, who they mistakenly believe in love with one of them. The true story behind the suitcase begins when Mary Swanson discovers that her husband has been involved in some sketchy dealings. Realizing she and her young son must be in grave danger, she quickly packs her bags and flees to Aspen to wait for her husband to leave for work. With the money from her husband's account in the suitcase, Mary sees this as a chance to start anew and create a fresh life for herself and her son. Meanwhile, the situation becomes more complex when Mary discovers her husband's alleged infidelity and decides it's time for a change in her life. As Lloyd and Harry continue their cross-country journey in a dilapidated blue van, they experience various surreal situations. The two men end up in a couple of crazy roadside attractions, picking up female aliens in one of the situations, to finally make it to Baltimore. Once in Baltimore, Lloyd convinces Harry that it is possible they can send the money back to Aspen via an East Coast mail plane - no matter the odds of finding this destination. Long story short, they take off in their makeshift rickety transportation in an adventurous stunt across two states that is initially a real risk and a very possible failure in more ways than one.
