Entourage

Plot

The movie Entourage, released in 2015, picks up nearly a decade after the events of the original HBO series of the same name. The film revolves around Vincent Chase, played by Adrian Grenier, a Hollywood A-lister who has been actively pursuing more serious and meaningful roles. In contrast to his previous blockbuster hits, Vincent is now drawn to artsier, smaller projects that cater to his creative side. As Vincent navigates the ever-shifting landscape of show business, he's surrounded by his loyal entourage, consisting of his best friends, Eric Murphy, Turtle and Johnny. Eric, played by Kevin Connolly, remains Vincent's trusted advisor, attempting to guide him through the complexities of adulthood and the cutthroat entertainment industry. Eric's also keeping a closer eye on Johnny Drama, played by Kevin Dillon, who continues to deal with the fallout of fading into obscurity as his last notable part being from a long time ago. Turtle, played by Jerry Ferrara, still manages Johnny Drama's talent business. This has proven to be quite the frustrating endeavor for Turtle, given the struggles Johnny continues to face in pursuing respectability and relevant work. Both Turtle and Johnny's personal lives are once again in disarray, prompting comedic moments that attest to their unpredictable and drama-prone lifestyles. Meanwhile, Ari Gold, played by Jeremy Piven, is still omnipresent in the world of Hollywood, although this time his focus has shifted towards running a studio. Since stepping down from his agency, Ari has managed to pivot effectively and now has a competing studio to offer his clients a wealth of creative opportunities. The original capricious and demanding Ari Gold still remains however his attitude and interaction with the group hasn't changed one bit. Vincent's closest friend, Eric, meanwhile becomes engaged to his fiancée Dana Gordon, played by Emily Ratajkowski whose a member of Vincent Chase Productions but this is met with some concern as some think that her Hollywood background might make her a complicated fit for the seemingly simple life they both have envisioned. Throughout the film, Vincent continues to find himself torn between his artistic ambitions and the reality of the long-term success of his acting career. In many respects this battle between artistic integrity and mainstream success would take him significantly farther away from Eric and other friends creating friction that can take a heavy emotional toll on the bonds they share with one another. Entourage the film is said to explore themes such as friendship, love, and perseverance within the world of Hollywood. It carries forward the distinct high level of tension present within the scenes set in this film which sees well-known celebrity cameos of Seth Green, Armie Hammer along with Bryan Cranston interacting in an assortment of scenes exhibiting strong in line dialogue. This makes for quite an entertaining piece of a very real Hollywood insight albeit for the exaggerated depictions. Overall Entourage the movie is a real enjoyable watch due to a blend of raw humor, an attention to the high-stakes game of Hollywood show business along with touching on themes beyond these light-hearted comedic elements that is perfectly felt through the characters the directors chose to put their emphasis on in this movie.

Okay, apparently this is based on Mark Wahlberg's real experiences, so I'm checking it out solely for the celebrity cameos. The short lead actor kinda looks like Michael J. Fox. Larry David (from 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'), Sara Silverman, Luke Wilson, Jessica Alba, Mark Wahlberg himself, Jimmy Kimmel, even Scarlett Johansson! Let's see if the star power can carry this one.

Just caught up on that E episode – hilarious! The twist was so predictable and delightful. And can you believe it, there's a Malenkov cameo! Who knew that thirteen years later, they'd all be having dinner in the Kremlin, haha!

Jeremy Piven! One word encapsulates the relentless energy, the volcanic outbursts, and the surprisingly vulnerable heart of Ari Gold.

A vapid, eye-candy-filled show with little substance
