Feed the Kitty

Plot

Feed the Kitty is a charming and humorous animated short film from 1952. The film is a classic tale of deception, loyalty, and the unbreakable bond between friends. At its core, it tells the story of a bulldog's secret life, which he tries to keep hidden from his owner. The film begins with the introduction of a loving and kind bulldog, who lives with a young girl in a cozy house. His owner, oblivious to his canine nature, treats the bulldog with endearing nicknames like "Baby" and "Pudgy." Unbeknownst to his owner, however, the bulldog takes on a secret persona: he becomes the proud caretaker of an adorable kitten. The bulldog's love for his new kitten friend grows with each passing moment, and he decides to become the kitten's parent. With great enthusiasm, he prepares a cozy little bed for the kitten, feeding him and bathing him in the dead of night while his owner is asleep. As the days go by, the bulldog continues to care for the kitten in secret, hiding him whenever his owner is around. However, taking care of this tiny ball of fluff proves to be a daunting task. The bulldog soon realizes that it is not as easy as he expected. He must carefully feed the kitten when his owner is distracted or out of the house. One particularly trying moment comes when he tries to make milk for the kitten using condensed milk and a bottle, with disastrous results. Despite these challenges, the bulldog remains committed to his secret life, always putting his kitten's needs ahead of his own. In a comedic sequence, the bulldog attempts to sneakily bathe the kitten while his owner watches TV in the living room, with chaotic consequences. Meanwhile, the owner becomes increasingly suspicious of her bulldog's strange behavior, particularly the disappearance of cat toys and his sudden interest in the neighborhood felines. The owner is about to discover the bulldog's secret, which would undoubtedly cause him distress. If his owner found out that he was secretly caring for a kitten, he might lose his beloved status as her pet. However, when the neighbor's cat becomes entangled in the bulldog's makeshift kite, the bulldog must spring into action and carefully rescue the entangled feline. His actions ultimately save the day, earning the appreciation of the neighbor and reinforcing his owner's affection for him. In the end, the bulldog successfully keeps his secret life hidden, and he continues to lovingly care for his tiny charge while keeping it safe from his owner. As the scene fades to black, the bulldog is shown contentedly watching over the sleeping kitten, symbolizing the strength and unwavering loyalty of their friendship.
