House of Gucci

Plot
In the late 1970s, Patrizia Reggiani, a young and ambitious housewife from a lower-class background, marries Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Aldo Gucci, co-founder of the renowned luxury fashion house Gucci. Initially, Patrizia's goal is to elevate her social status by marrying into the Gucci family, but as time passes, she becomes increasingly consumed by her desire to take control of the family business. Patrizia's presence in the Gucci household is met with skepticism by Maurizio's family, particularly Maurizio's mother, Rodolfo Gucci's widow, and Aldo Gucci's wife, who are wary of Patrizia's working-class background and her lack of sophistication. Maurizio's father, Rodolfo Gucci, sees Patrizia as a threat to his son's well-being and the future of the Gucci empire. As Patrizia becomes more involved in the family business, she begins to exploit her connection to Maurizio to further her own interests. She convinces Maurizio to buy out the stake of their cousin, Paolo Gucci, and subsequently, Patrizia's influence over Maurizio grows stronger. However, her unbridled ambition and lack of tact cause tension within the family, leading to power struggles and ultimately, the downfall of the Gucci dynasty. Aldo Gucci, who has grown increasingly distrustful of Patrizia's intentions, decides to intervene and persuade Maurizio to cut Patrizia out of his life. However, Patrizia's determination to control the family business and secure her position at its helm drives her to take drastic measures. She hires a hitman, Pina Auriemma's cousin, to assassinate Aldo Gucci, but the attempt is unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Maurizio Gucci becomes increasingly detached from his brother and cousin, who are also vying for control of the family business. His decision to pursue a relationship with a younger woman, Paola Franchi, adds to the stress and instability within the family, and further exacerbates Patrizia's desire for revenge. Patrizia begins to orchestrate a campaign of sabotage against Maurizio, seeking to exploit his vulnerability and undermine his position as head of the Gucci family. She employs underhanded tactics, including manipulating Maurizio's finances, spreading scandalous rumors, and using her network of connections to discredit him in the eyes of his family and business associates. As the Gucci family teeters on the brink of collapse, Patrizia's ambition reaches a boiling point. She orchestrates a final, desperate act of betrayal, hiring a hitman, Frank "Crazy Bob" Caleffi, to assassinate Maurizio Gucci outside the Gucci office building in Milan. The murder is a ruthless and calculating act, aimed at destroying any potential threat to Patrizia's grip on the family business. The aftermath of the murder sets off a chain reaction of events that ultimately lead to Patrizia Reggiani's downfall. Her role in Maurizio's murder is exposed, and she is arrested and charged with his assassination. The film ends with Patrizia, a shell of her former self, serving time in prison for her role in the Gucci family's downfall. Through the lens of the Gucci family's tragic tale, the film reveals the corrupting influence of power and ambition, highlighting the devastating consequences that can result when the pursuit of wealth and status becomes an all-encompassing obsession.
