Hubie Dubois, Salem's most beloved and mocked resident, is at it again. Year after year, this lovable but awkward man puts in countless hours ensuring that Salem's Halloween celebration is an event to remember. Unfortunately for Hubie, his relentless enthusiasm and dedication only lead to teasing and ridicule from the town's children and even some adults. Despite his efforts, Hubie cannot seem to catch a break. However, as Halloween approaches this year, Hubie notices an unusual change in the air. A mysterious stranger arrives in town, and soon, a string of bizarre occurrences begins to plague Salem's residents. Hubie is more than happy to take on the task of figuring out what's behind the strange events, hoping that by doing so, he will finally be recognized as the hero he feels he is. As he starts his investigation, Hubie encounters the enigmatic and reclusive Mrs. O'Connell, who lives in a dilapidated mansion at the edge of town. Despite her intimidating appearance, Hubie soon discovers that Mrs. O'Connell is an elderly woman who has lived in Salem all her life and possesses a deep understanding of the town's mysterious history. Together, they form an unlikely bond, and Mrs. O'Connell, who has known Hubie since he was a child, begins to share some of her knowledge with him. Meanwhile, Hubie's obsession with solving the mystery starts to disrupt his daily routine. He becomes more withdrawn, neglecting his responsibilities at the local grocery store, and his best friend, a convenience store clerk named Bernie Sanders, becomes increasingly concerned about Hubie's well-being. He begins to suspect that the strange occurrences are connected to an ancient curse that has haunted Salem's history. Hubie, determined to save Halloween and his beloved town, concocts a plan to defeat Vex and his minions. Utilizing the knowledge gained from his encounter with Mrs. O'Connell, Hubie leads a group of Salem's residents on a quest to thwart Vex's sinister plans. Despite the odds being against them, the group manages to outsmart Vex's minions and face the sorcerer himself. In a climactic showdown on Halloween night, Hubie faces off against Vex in a battle of wits and supernatural prowess. Armed with nothing but his determination and quick thinking, Hubie manages to outwit the sorcerer and banish him from the town.
