Jajantaram Mamantaram

Plot
Jajantaram Mamantaram is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language fantasy film directed by Suresh Krissna, starring Jayaram, Namitha, and Sindhu Tolani. The film is loosely based on the classic Indian fairy tale, 'Birbal,' and blends elements of fantasy, adventure, and comedy. The story unfolds in a small town, where Ramesh (played by Jayaram) is a young man struggling to find employment. His friends and family have given up on him, and he is mocked by the townspeople. One day, while wandering through the forest, Ramesh stumbles upon a magical cave that leads him to a land inhabited by little people. In this mystical land, Ramesh meets the tiny king, King Dushyant (also played by Jayaram in a separate role), who is facing a threat from their arch-nemesis, Raja Rammahan (played by Goundamani). The Raja, with the help of his henchmen, has been terrorizing the land, stealing their food, and destroying their belongings. The little people, led by their brave warriors, have been fighting back, but their efforts are in vain. Moved by their plight, Ramesh agrees to help the little people defeat their enemies. However, upon learning that he is among the few humans who can fit into the land, Ramesh decides to stay and protect the little kingdom. To aid him, King Dushyant decides to send Ramesh to the land of mortal men, along with a group of brave warriors. This journey is necessary as they need to gather the courage of a thousand people to help them in the impending battle. However, it's not an easy task for the brave warriors to convince one mortal to join their cause, until they find Ramesh, who in the end agrees to join them, and this sets the stage for a series of epic battles that unfolds in the movie. Upon his return, Ramesh is greeted as a hero by the little people. He is presented with a magical sword, 'Parijatham,' which will make him invincible in battle. Ramesh is also introduced to the beautiful Princess Manjulika (played by Sindhu Tolani), the king's daughter, who falls in love with him. In an attempt to distract the enemy forces, Princess Manjulika and Ramesh embark on a romantic adventure while King Dushyant and the brave warriors devise a plan to defeat Raja Rammahan and his gang. The strategy involves luring them into a trap with the promise of a fight against Ramesh alone. Ramesh is given the task of fighting alone against Raja Rammahan and his army of warriors, who boast of their brute strength. However, Ramesh's wit, agility, and use of the magical sword turn the tables against the enemy. The battle is intense and dramatic as the little people take advantage of the confusion and launch a surprise attack on Raja Rammahan's forces. With their combined strength, they manage to overpower the enemy, forcing Raja Rammahan to retreat. In the aftermath of the battle, Raja Rammahan seeks revenge on Ramesh, leading to an intense one-on-one duel. Armed with the magical sword, Ramesh proves to be a formidable opponent and fights valiantly, ultimately emerging victorious. The film concludes with the defeat of Raja Rammahan and the rescue of the little kingdom from his tyranny. The people rejoice at their new found peace, and Ramesh and Princess Manjulika confess their love for each other. However, as Ramesh soon finds himself torn between his love for Manjulika and the world of mortals. The movie ends on a poignant note, as the audience is left wondering if Ramesh will choose to return to the land of humans or stay with his love, Princess Manjulika, in the enchanted land of the little people. The choice ultimately lies in his hands, leaving the audience to contemplate the moral dilemma at the heart of the film.
