A darkly humorous take on The Wizard of Oz, an underappreciated cult classic. Douban proves once again its ratings can be unreliable - this was so much better than expected.

David Bowie's Goblin King is an unforgettable spectacle. A feast for the eyes and ears, even if the plot wanders.

Is this a 1986 movie?? R U kidding me??!!! The visuals, the craftsmanship, the wonderful imagination, it's all far better than today's hollow blockbusters that rely on huge budgets and a few trendy actors, with dialogue that reads like a bad joke.

Bowie, you sly old goblin! The ancestor of all things scene-kid! How could you agree to make such a goofy movie?! And how did I manage to watch the whole thing?! PS: Those pants are way too tight, your bulge is distracting.

A beautiful film brimming with whimsy and familiar fantasy echoes, distilled from classic fairy tales. Bowie, oh Bowie, how devastatingly handsome must you be? Each costume a revelation, culminating in that breathtaking white ensemble. In anyone else's hands, that look would be utter cringe, but you, sir, wear it with undeniable panache. And the way you manipulate those crystal balls? Utterly captivating.
