Like for Likes

Plot
In the film "Like for Likes," a talented but notoriously shrewish writer of TV dramas, Baek Jae-Yi (played by Kim Ji-Won), is known for her sharp tongue and harsh criticism. Her writing often leaves a lasting impact on the television landscape, leaving her castmates, crew, and even her co-workers in awe and trepidation. Jae-Yi's personal life is also marked by her constant struggles with trust and relationships. Her sharp wit and tendency to deflect vulnerability often make it difficult for her to open up and connect with others. In contrast, Baek Jae-Yan's childhood friend and rival, Choi Baek (played by Song Kang), is an incredibly popular Korean Wave star. As they've grown older, their relationship has evolved into a constant battle of wills, with the two frequently clashing over their vastly different views on art and relationships. Jae-Yan, an actor and singer, has struggled with his own fame, often feeling stifled by the pressures of being a public figure. His frustration and disillusionment seep into his performances, leading to a disconnection with his audience. Meanwhile, we are introduced to Park Soo-Ah (played by Kim Ji-Hyun), a kindly but fiercely protective flight attendant turned landlady, and Goo Hyun-Woo (played by Choi Baek-Hyun), her affable but nosy chef tenant. Despite their vastly different careers, the two have developed a strong bond, with Soo-Ah looking out for Hyun-Woo like a mother hen. As their friendship grows, Hyun-Woo proves to be a valuable confidant for Soo-Ah, helping her navigate the ups and downs of romance and relationships. In the film's parallel storyline, we meet Joo-Young (played by Kim Sung-Kyun), a brilliant but awkward composer who harbors a secret admiration for his producer and co-worker, Han Jae-Woon (played by Lee Won-Bin). Jae-Woon, on the other hand, appears to be a scattered, chaotic force of nature, often juggling multiple projects at once and relying on his creative genius to see him through. As they work together on a new drama, Joo-Young becomes increasingly smitten with Jae-Woon, but struggles to express himself. When a series of unexpected events brings Jae-Yi and Jae-Yan into close proximity, the two former friends find themselves constantly at odds. As they navigate their complicated past and present, they're forced to confront the flaws and insecurities that have long plagued them. Meanwhile, Soo-Ah and Hyun-Woo offer a steady dose of support and reassurance, helping Jae-Yi and Jae-Yan to see the world in a new light. As the film hurtles towards its conclusion, Joo-Young musters up the courage to declare his feelings to Jae-Woon, who is caught off guard by the composer's genuine emotions. The two share a tender moment, marking a turning point in their relationship. In the end, Jae-Yi and Jae-Yan must confront the harsh realities of their own fears and vulnerabilities. Through a series of grueling, soul-searching conversations, they begin to peel away the layers of resentment and anger that have accumulated over the years. As they let go of their hurt and disappointment, they begin to reconnect on a deeper level, forming a bond that transcends their surface-level animosity. The film "Like for Likes" is a poignant exploration of the complexities of human relationships. Through its witty dialogue, nuanced characterizations, and clever direction, the film shows us that even the most seemingly mismatched individuals can find common ground, and that love can conquer even the most entrenched of fears and insecurities. By examining the intricate web of friendships, relationships, and personal struggles that underlies the film's narrative, we gain a deeper understanding of the ways in which we interact with one another, and the ways in which we can learn to cherish and nurture those connections.

Why does Yoo Ah-in have such amazing chemistry with everyone!
Vivian
Liu Ah-in's kind of ruggedly handsome, almost greasy charm – like a small-town Casanova from a Northern drama – feels right at home playing opposite older actresses, but casting him as a glamorous A-lister just feels like a stretch!

Is Yoo Ah-in the only Korean actor who can pull off the role of a young man (boy) obsessed with older women...?
Damian
If Yoo Ah-in successfully returns from his military service, no one in Chungmuro will be able to stop him. Hopefully, he can find an actress who can match his acting prowess for a proper romance movie.
