Plot

Set in a gritty and corrupt world where crime and corporate espionage go hand-in-hand, 'New World' is a gripping crime drama that delves into the complex moralities of an undercover cop's world. Kang Dae-hie (played by Lee Si-young, however in 2003 original South Korean Film, it was actually played by Lee Byung-hun), a skilled and seasoned detective, goes undercover to infiltrate the corporate gang led by the powerful and feared boss, Seo Tae-rim (played by Jung Jae-young). Dae-hie has been embedded in the world of the corporate gang for years, earning the trust of its high-ranking members, and has become an integral part of their inner circle. As the years pass, Dae-hie establishes a strong bond with his fellow comrades, particularly Jung Jae-in (played by Cho Seung-woo) and Cha Dong-joon (played by Hwang Jung-semin). His ability to effortlessly blend into the corporate gang, coupled with his impressive tactical skills, makes him indispensable to the team. However, beneath the façade of camaraderie and loyalty, Dae-hie is secretly working to dismantle the corporate gang from within, driven by a desire to see justice served. The stakes take a dramatic turn, however, when Seo Tae-rim is killed in an unexpected attack. This development shakes the very foundations of the corporate gang, sending panic waves throughout the organization. As power struggles erupt and factions vie for control, Dae-hie must navigate an increasingly treacherous landscape, with his loyalties and allegiances put to the ultimate test. As the battle for control rages on, Dae-hie is forced to confront the very essence of his identity. His allegiance to the law is pitted against his deep-rooted connections to the corporate gang, and the loyalty he has cultivated over the years threatens to tear him asunder. On one hand, he has a duty to uphold the law and bring about the downfall of the corporate gang's corrupt empire. On the other, he has a responsibility to the people who have taken him under their wing and to the bond he has formed with his fellow comrades. The tension mounts as Dae-hie is drawn deeper into the power struggle within the corporate gang, facing impossible choices and difficult moral dilemmas at every turn. The lines between right and wrong begin to blur, and Dae-hie finds himself questioning everything he thought he knew about himself and his mission. Meanwhile, a new player enters the scene – Detective Lee Joong-gu (played by Cho Seung-woo). Unbeknownst to Dae-hie, Joong-gu is another undercover cop working to bring down the corporate gang from a different angle. This revelation sets in motion a cat-and-mouse game of espionage and counter-espionage, with Dae-hie and Joong-gu caught in a web of deceit and double cross. As the stakes escalate, Dae-hie must rely on his wits and tactical skills to stay one step ahead of his adversaries. He faces off against a new and more ruthless adversary, Park Won-sang (played by Jung Hyeon), a cunning and manipulative gang leader who will stop at nothing to maintain his power and control. As the plot hurtles towards its climactic conclusion, Dae-hie is forced to confront the harsh realities of his mission. He must confront the consequences of his actions and face the music, should he fail. The fate of the corporate gang, and indeed the entire city, hangs precariously in the balance. In the face of overwhelming adversity, Dae-hie must choose between his loyalty to the corporate gang and his duty to uphold the law. As he walks the fine line between his allegiances, 'New World' hurtles towards its thrilling and heart-pounding conclusion.
