Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

Plot

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is an American musical comedy film directed by Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, and written by the latter along with Simon Rich. The film stars Andy Samberg as Conner4real, a talented but troubled pop/rap superstar who has been riding a wave of success for years. At the height of his fame, Conner4real is the king of the pop-rap scene, known for his outrageous stage show and chart-topping hits. His music is a mix of pop hooks and hip-hop beats, and his lyrics are full of celebrity name-dropping and self-aggrandizement. He's got a massive following, and his tours are always sold out. However, things start to take a turn for the worse when Conner4real releases his new album, "Northern Downset." Despite the buzz surrounding the album, it fails to sell the expected number of records, and it receives lukewarm reviews from critics. The news is a devastating blow to Conner4real, who had expected to sell millions of copies and continue his winning streak. As the days go by, things only get worse for Conner4real. His record label drops him, his endorsement deals dry up, and his social media following begins to dwindle. His celebrity friends, including rapper Snoop Dogg and actor James Franco, start to distance themselves from him. Conner4real's manager, Pat, tries to reassure him that he's still a star, but even he can see that the bottom is falling out. As Conner4real's world begins to collapse, he's forced to confront the fact that his success has come at a cost. He's lost touch with his friends and family, and his music has become shallow and formulaic. He begins to question whether it's all worth it, and whether he can find a way to revive his career and reconnect with his art. Meanwhile, rumors begin to circulate that Conner4real is considering a reunion tour with his old rap group, The Style Boyz. The group was a huge success in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but it disbanded when Conner4real decided to go solo. The reunion rumors are fueled by a series of cryptic posts on Conner4real's social media accounts, and they send his fans into a frenzy. However, when Conner4real is finally presented with the opportunity to reunite with The Style Boyz, he recoils in horror. He's made it clear that he's moved on from his old friends and his old music, and that he's focused on his new solo career. He's also made it clear that he's got too much ego and too much pride to ever go back to his old ways. Despite his initial resistance, Conner4real eventually comes to realize that his old group may be just the ticket to revive his career. He starts to reach out to his old friends and former bandmates, and they begin to make plans for a reunion tour. Conner4real is nervous and uncertain, but he knows that this may be his last chance to save his career and rediscover his passion for music. The reunion tour is a massive success, with sold-out crowds and rave reviews. Conner4real is back in the spotlight, and his music is better than ever. He's finally found a way to balance his ego and his art, and he's learned to appreciate the value of his old friendships. The film ends with Conner4real and the Style Boyz performing their hit song "I'm So Humble (I'm So Humble)" on stage, surrounded by confetti and adoring fans. Conner4real looks overjoyed and relieved, knowing that he's finally got his career and his life back on track. The film ends on a high note, with Conner4real laughing and joking with his friends, and the crowd cheering and singing along. Overall, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a hilarious and heartwarming comedy that pokes fun at the excesses and absurdities of the pop music industry. The film features a standout performance from Andy Samberg, who is pitch-perfect as the troubled pop star Conner4real. The film also features a star-studded cast of cameos, including Snoop Dogg, James Franco, and Sarah Silverman. With its catchy musical numbers and outrageous humor, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a must-see for fans of music, comedy, and pop culture.

An extended SNL music video and sketch show. Perhaps its only redeeming qualities are the overly-long list of celebrity cameos and the parody songs.
