Plot
In late 19th century Hong Kong, the British colonial rule dominates the land, but the pirates remain the true masters of the waters. This dichotomy sets the stage for a thrilling adventure, as Coast Guard officer Dragon Ma, also known as Captain Ma, is determined to assert his authority and prove his beloved Coast Guard is not to be underestimated. Led by the cunning and ruthless pirate lord, San Po, the pirate fleet has been wreaking havoc on the marine trade, evading capture and bringing shame to the Coast Guard. Dragon Ma, a proud and ambitious officer, is resolved to put an end to this humiliation and restore the honor of his squad. Despite the lack of support from the British authorities and the skepticism of his own crew, Dragon Ma devises a daring plan to capture San Po and his pirate fleet. He assembles a team of skilled and fearless Coast Guard officers, including his trusted friends, Fei and Sai. Knowing all along about Captain Chou Yung-ling's dealings with pirates, Sergeant Dragon Ma volunteers to rescue the hostages. He reorganizes the Marine Police, devising "Project A" – a scheme to eliminate the pirates once and for all, working in tandem with his superior, Hong Tin-tsu (Yuen Biao), and his trusted brother, Inspector Chi卓一飞 (Sammo Hung).

How many of us spent our childhoods huddled around a TV with our best buddies, watching pirated VCDs of these films? Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, and Sammo Hung – the perfectly balanced and incredibly talented trio. That was the golden age of Hong Kong cinema. Each film, though rough around the edges, was bursting with vitality and energy. Back then, Hong Kong movies hadn't yet succumbed to the cliché and overused slapstick that would later plague them. It was the most natural, exuberant, and vibrant childhood of cinematic art. Now? It's grown into a mature, money-making machine, where even the joy feels cheap and artificial.
