Re-Elected

Plot
Re-Elected is a supernatural action-comedy film directed by and starring Will Sasso, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The movie takes place on a fateful Fourth of July evening in the United States, when the spirit of American patriotism and celebration clashes with the undead and the very essence of democracy. As Independence Day festivities unfold in the town of Washington Grove, strange occurrences begin to happen. People start to notice that the former United States Presidents who were buried in the town's cemetery have come back to life. The zombies are a mix of Democrats and Republicans, all of them with their distinctive style, mannerisms, and ideologies, now reduced to nothing more than flesh-eating, brain-hungry monsters. The film centers around a group of friends who find themselves at the forefront of a battle for survival against these reanimated leaders of the free world. Our heroes include an ex-President's daughter, Jen (played by Jenna Fischer), her quirky best friend, Lisa (played by Amy Sedaris), and a couple of lovable but dim-witted stoners, Jimmy and Bubba (played by Chris Parnell and Will Sasso respectively). These ordinary citizens of Washington Grove have to band together and come up with creative ways to fend off the hordes of undead U.S. Presidents. As the zombies wreak havoc on the town, our heroes quickly realize that they will have to use their wits and whatever skills they possess to defeat their monstrous opponents. Jen's knowledge of her father's policies and strategies proves to be invaluable in this situation, while Lisa's eccentricity and quick thinking often help the group escape the most precarious situations. Meanwhile, Jimmy and Bubba provide comedic relief with their silly antics and non-sequiturs. However, not all former Presidents are identical in their zombie forms. Some, like Franklin D. Roosevelt, still possess a level of eloquence and leadership skills that make them formidable foes, often taking on high-ranking officials in town and turning them into zombies. Others, like Richard Nixon, have lost their rationality and behave like violent, paranoid lunatics, causing just as much chaos in their wake. As the group continues to fight for their lives, they start to uncover the reason behind the Presidents' reanimation and the true nature of this sinister force. They discover that the zombies have an insatiable hunger for red, white, and blue foods, and an even greater craving for the American flag itself. This discovery inspires them to come up with a bold plan to save Washington Grove by using the very symbols of American patriotism against the undead former leaders of the country. Re-Elected takes inspiration from classic horror movies such as Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, as well as films with a comedic twist like Hot Fuzz. Its irreverent humor and lighthearted take on the zombie apocalypse set it apart from other movies in the genre. In its own unique way, the film sends a message about the importance of American values and principles, even in the face of chaos and adversity. In the climactic finale, the group stages a clever ambush using their knowledge of American politics and history, employing iconic figures such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr. to take down the zombie hordes and shatter the force that has returned them to the world of the living. As the dust settles and the last of the zombies are eliminated, the people of Washington Grove emerge from their ordeal with an increased appreciation for their heritage and the importance of their democracy. With its unique blend of horror, comedy, and patriotism, Re-Elected offers a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse genre, making it an entertaining, lighthearted experience for viewers of all ages.
