Security

Plot
Security is a 2016 American action thriller film directed by Alain Desrocher, loosely based on the 2010 French film, "The Take." The story revolves around Dan, a former special services operative, who has fallen on hard times after leaving his military background. Seeking a fresh start and desperate for work, he takes a security guard job at the rundown Oakwood Mall in a rough part of town. The once-thriving complex has become a neglected and dilapidated shopping center, plagued by crime and a lack of security. Dan, a veteran with extensive combat experience, feels a sense of unease as he begins his first night on the job. The Oakwood Mall is a world away from the adrenaline-fueled environments he's used to, and the mundane tasks of surveillance and patrol leave him yearning for the action he once craved. Despite his reservations, he's determined to make the most of this new opportunity and prove to himself that he still has what it takes. As the night unfolds, a frantic young girl bursts into the mall, begging Dan for help. The distraught teenager, Samantha, has just escaped the hijacking of a police motorcade. She was one of the key witnesses in a high-profile trial and had been being transported to the courthouse when her police escort was ambushed. Desperate to evade her pursuers, Samantha flees into the Oakwood Mall, hoping to find safety within its walls. Hot on Samantha's heels are the ruthless hijackers, led by the enigmatic and menacing psychopath, Victor. Victor and his team of henchmen are a highly skilled and well-armed group, intent on extracting and silencing Samantha before she can testify against their associates. They'll stop at nothing to achieve their objective, making Dan's job as a security guard incredibly challenging. As Victor's team begins to close in on the mall, Dan springs into action, using his combat skills and knowledge to outmaneuver and outrun the hijackers. With Samantha's life hanging in the balance, Dan must employ all his skills and experience to protect her from Victor's relentless pursuit. Throughout the film, the contrast between Dan's past and present is stark. His military background and training serve him well in this high-stakes battle, but he's also forced to confront the difficulties of making a transition to civilian life. Haunted by the ghosts of his past, Dan must navigate the complexities of his new environment and find a way to reconnect with the world outside his own personal battles. The film's action sequences are fast-paced and intense, with Dan facing off against Victor's team in a series of intense and suspenseful confrontations. Director Alain Desrocher masterfully captures the tension and adrenaline of the chase, weaving together a cohesive narrative that propels the viewer through the film's 90-minute running time. As the stakes escalate, Dan becomes increasingly determined to protect Samantha, whom he comes to regard as a surrogate sibling. Through his unwavering commitment to her safety, Dan begins to find a new sense of purpose, using his skills to make a positive impact on the world around him. Ultimately, Security is a gripping action thriller that explores the complexities of a security guard's life, blurring the lines between soldier and civilian. The film raises important questions about what it means to be a protector and the challenges of re-entering civilian life after a life of combat. With its gripping plot and pulse-pounding action sequences, Security is a must-see for fans of the thriller genre.
