Hollywood animation is so formulaic these days. It's always about chasing dreams or going on adventures, with some family/friends holding you back. Then you meet a reliable young love interest/spiritual mentor, face hardships and misunderstandings, and finally realize that family and friends are the most important thing. And no matter how big the danger, no one ever dies! So, is 'Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf' the only one breaking the mold these days? (Just kidding).

"The Croods" tells the story of how, in a region prone to earthquakes and with consistently high PM2.5 levels, only a boyfriend from the Chinese Academy of Sciences can save your entire family. =3=

The Croods blends the heartwarming family dynamics and unique abilities of The Incredibles, the wild exodus and boisterous humor of Ice Age, the tender familial bonds of Brave, the spectacular visuals of Avatar, and the diverse array of adorable creatures from How to Train Your Dragon. With callbacks and no extraneous scenes, it's a rollercoaster of exhilarating pacing that will have you laughing and crying throughout. A definite nominee for the 86th Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature in 2014.
