Wonder Woman 1984

Plot

Set in the midst of the 1980s, 'Wonder Woman 1984' is a superhero film that takes place several years after the events of the first release, 'Wonder Woman' (2017). The movie follows the immortal Demigoddess, Diana Prince, as she navigates the complexities of her idyllic life in Washington D.C. during a time of great cultural and societal change. Diana's (Gal Gadot) life is going smoothly. She's settled into her position as an ambassador of peace and understanding at the Museum of Natural History, and she's contentedly involved in a romantic relationship with the charming and enigmatic pilot, Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). Their encounter was solely by circumstance and they both still treasure the enchanted time they spent together. However, Diana's life is turned upside down when an unsightly theft occurs at a magical antique shop in Washington D.C. The store, which is run by a clever Antiques dealer called, and known simply as My Doctor or known as Antique Dealer "Doctor", (played by Robin Wright), holds extensive collections of artifacts imbued with magical powers. One such peculiar item is a statue of an ancient Greek God called 'Nemesis.' The ruthless businessman, Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), has attempted to steal the precious statue and subsequently takes possession of it. After managing to get his hands on the statue, Maxwell Lord uses the powerful artifact to access and harness its limitless and unparalleled powers. He starts an aggressive and disarming rise to the very pinnacle of business success, generating an endless fortune and catching the public eye as an astoundingly resourceful and skilled businessman in his wake. It is revealed to Diana in a dream, courtesy of the Amazonian powers granted to her through the power of the gods, that Nemesis has been manipulated to make its contents visible only to Maxwell Lord's peers, utilizing its immense magical powers for destructive results. However, there is an additional, potentially more influential and valuable artifact - the 'Dreamstone.' This powerful jewel has an uncanny ability to grant the deepest, and sometimes the greediest, desires of an individual. The existence of such a powerful artifact catches the attention of Pedro Pascal's character and pushes him further into the depths of chaos. His rise causes public fascination, as a man of magic gradually appears out of thin air, producing nothing but unfathomable and magical innovations overnight. Given the incredible rise to prominence of Maxwell Lord, the public becomes quickly infatuated with the newly named Business Mogul, leaving fewer and fewer options available to capture and contain him effectively. Diana discovers that her nemesis has been gathering an extraordinary and intriguing collection of other magical artifacts that he, with his power over the statue of Nemesis, has the capability to command access and utilize the limitless powers hidden inside them. As Diana ventures into the true depths of reality and starts to realize her nemesis has found these wonders, a complex battle ensues. Diana, understanding that only her mighty power will suffice to prevent Maxwell Lord's utilization of the remaining super powerful magical artifacts, gains the will to become conscious of her true power. As a determined and self-discovering Diana fights down her insecurities pertaining to her new capabilities, Maxwell, without shame, exuberantly portrays himself as the true embodiment of the superhuman being with the help of a reality warping statue, a force nearly capable of surpassing even the strength of the iconic Demigod from the Amazonian people. Fighting on two distinct fronts – to physically contain Maxwell and to figure out the secret behind her unbelievable powers – Diana fights to prevent a dream fulfilled in reality from destabilizing a world of humans.
