Zombieland

Plot
Zombieland is a 2009 American post-apocalyptic comedy film, directed by Ruben Fleischer, and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film takes place in a world overrun by reanimated corpses, which have consumed most of the population. The remaining survivors must adapt quickly to survive in this harsh new environment. The movie focuses on Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), a nervous, awkward, and socially anxious young man who has managed to survive the zombie outbreak. Columbus lives in a mall in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by a collection of safety items and general supplies he believes will keep him alive. He has also established a strict rule of only picking up other survivors who share similar eccentricities to his own, such as Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abbie Cornish), a pair of sisters with an unhealthy obsession for social hierarchy. Columbus's isolation ends when Wichita and Little Rock arrive at the mall after Wichita shoots Columbus to get in. This unexpected turn of events opens Columbus up to the idea of encountering others outside his comfort zone and forming new connections with Wichita, who is not as thrilled about being robbed at gunpoint, and the eventual arrival of Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson). Tallahassee is an eccentric, southerner character with an affinity for running, playing the radio loudly while traveling, and guns. He is the polar opposite of Columbus, enjoying the thrill of being in close proximity to zombies as he prepares for a gruesome meal. As the trio navigate their differences, they establish a peculiar friendship based on their combined survival skills. Their journey takes them across the country, stopping at several small towns and historic locations to complete personal objectives and find ways to defeat the zombies. In some of these places, the group discovers their lives were involved with others, particularly survivors that initially got along with or helped them out. This information showcases an emotional aspect among characters such as Tallahassee having formed close bonds with others in the apocalypse, helping heighten their bond within the group particularly with Columbus. Tallahassee is tasked with helping the three companions achieve their goal of reaching their planned destination, a Disneyland opened due to circumstances like Wichita's supposed ' Disneyland Disneyland lovers sister'. Columbus becomes determined to see this through, creating a new foundation of survival and a chance at further personal growth as it illustrates friendship creating in the chaos of world fallen into the world with all hell breaking loose. Their trip is filled with action-packed encounters with various types of zombies and, also individuals who interact differently with the environment such as the T-shirt wearing ' zombie ' or a TV freaked guy. On multiple occasions, these confrontations test the limits of their newfound connections and, especially between Columbus and Wichita, further establishing their relationship. Ultimately, Columbus and Wichita reveal the underpinnings of their differing emotional responses to one another that they are brought closer. Alongside Tallahassee, who brings excitement to the journey. His zest for life continues inspiring them to make difficult decisions and at the same time navigate challenges driven by heightened emotional states. Zombieland is also known for its reference to several popular culture elements like Woody Harrelson's scene when he's introduced towards zombies; all humor-filled action sequences in a zombie infestation; an affinity for old-school country artists, and the contrast between the desolate location as a contrast between zombies present and their new desired Disneyland location.
