Annabelle Comes Home

Plot
The darkness of the supernatural hangs heavy over the Warren household once again, as Ed and Lorraine, seasoned demonologists, make a desperate attempt to contain the malevolent force known as Annabelle. With her notorious reputation growing, the Warrens are determined to lock the demonic doll away forever and prevent the tragedies she has brought upon innocent families. They carefully seal Annabelle in a glass containment unit and, following a request from a local priest, they obtain a sacred blessing to placate her. But, unbeknownst to the Warrens, their confidence may be misplaced, as the mere act of confining Annabelle could spark a catastrophic chain reaction, free from their control. Casting a long and ominous shadow, the house now grows quiet, its secrets buried deep beneath its historic facade. The sacred objects on the walls, once believed to bring peace and solace, seem to grow dimmer, their protection waxing thin. Every door seal and locked bolt comes to represent a mere façade against the infernal force threatening to shatter the fragile truce that exists within those walls. While hidden away, the artifacts in the room, their histories shrouded in mystery, seem to pulse and tremble, awakening an unsettling potential from the bottom of their glass cases. These ancient relics—mementos thoughtfully commemorating crimes committed and conquests attained—are slowly enlivened, but their malice is not akin to Annabelle's sinister power. Each idol, a distinct, twisted manifestation of destructive energy, awakens, reaching outward in an unrelenting pursuit. As life adjusts within the Warren household, Ed grows concerned with his own vulnerabilities to Annabelle. Preceded by sinister gestures and bizarre, unexplained events, it is evident that the sequestered evil doll is no longer content to be locked away. Worry is transferred to Judy and the other visiting teens who have gathered for a quiet summer evening at the Warrens. Her teenage world is painted by anticipation and excitement for the next summer months, even though an eventful, dread-filled spectacle looms on the distant horizon. It's not long before tragedy begins to insidiously unfold, as sinister happenings darken the luster from the long-respected Warren home. Uncanny events creep deep into the slumbering household, whose unwary occupants, much like other recent innocents she has brought calamity to, soon learn of Annabelle's ominous presence. The power Annabelle exudes taints innocent lives as deadly enticements sway the Warren children and a chosen circle of guest friends. Frayed, frayed relationships—Ed and Lorraine; Ed and Judy; Ed's long-held attachment to Lorraine—combine to seal Ed in a realm imbued with desperation, despair, and ultimate burden. When deadly strife begins unfolding in each nook of the Warrens' home, his is the bitter pain of facing what he thought had been pacified. The home itself appears to be perpetuating the nightmares by enforcing macabre fantasies and opening hidden doors into unknown places deep within the building. For as all that darkness that Annabelle brings assembles at the center of the heart, it threatens the family unity held long together and supported against threats from dark dimensions, sending tragedy right into their hearth and sanctuary.

This black-haired girl is seriously asking for trouble... barging into someone else's home and messing with their belongings like that. Such a lack of manners. No zuo no die.

Joining the ranks of dolls from "Dead Silence," "Annabelle," "Hanako-san," and "Child's Play," this Annabelle doll has been added to my niece's 11th birthday gift. Hope she enjoys it!

The first big ripoff of the summer! You think the Warrens are the main characters, but they're just cameos. You expect a horror movie, but it's actually a teen movie. Three young girls in a haunted house baking cakes, celebrating birthdays, playing games, watching TV, chatting about their feelings, listening to the boy next door sing and play guitar, and then, with scary music playing, they go looking for the doll... yes, just looking for the doll! I almost thought the production crew outsourced the work to a Chinese Ouija board/spirit board team!

Annabelle Comes Home is a fun and effective entry in The Conjuring Universe, acting like a vengeful spirit reunion.
