Cocaine Bear

Plot
Cocaine Bear is a dark comedy-thriller film that revolves around a bizarre and unsettling real-life event. In 1985, a police officer in Tennessee discovered a bear in a wooded area that had ingested a large quantity of cocaine. This film reimagines the incident, however, by creating a fictional narrative centered around a massive 500-pound black bear. The story takes place in a dimly-lit, economically struggling town in Georgia. Local animal control officer, Eddie (played by Ray Liotta), initially discovers the bear, which appears to be extremely disoriented and aggressive due to its consumption of the illicit substance. Eddie calls upon his ex-wife's brother, a burly, rough-around-the-edges truck driver named Elvis (played by Jason Schwartzman), for help. Elvis offers to hunt down the errant bear with the promise of a substantial reward from local wildlife authorities. However, the dynamic duo is not the only entourage. Upon learning about the situation, a wild group of people gathers to observe and capitalize on the chaos. This chaotic mix includes Andy (played by Keri Russell), a befuddled traveler having her relationship reset by the occurrence, Detective Bob (played by O'Shea Jackson Jr.), a hapless, eager law enforcement officer trapped in routine, but struggling with an understanding of what exactly is going on, a young oddball kid known as Parker (played by Alden Ehrenreich), an out-of-place social media obsessive documenting each gory event, and a cynical, long-haired wanderer called Dr. Fickl (played by Margo Martindale), who seems rather absorbed in onlooker roles with a vague approach. As the situation escalates, and the gruesome case seems out of control, more officers, agents, and a 'cementer enforcer', and especially outsiders are dispatched to catch and kill the unhinged bear, they themselves will become unexpected prey for the increasingly disoriented, and by now extremely violent bear. Although they are supposed to protect the community, each player ends up making their own motivations for turning the adventure of protecting their residents – into an infernal nightmare of both mass anxiety and terrifying chases. While these characters range from the obtuse and dim-witted to the suspicious and sinister, and in an attempt to finally apprehend it before it makes more killing, it repeatedly escapes its pursuers, all while the amount of blood loss around the forest causes the level of panic to grow among people in town. As this twisted plot unfolds, we're introduced to an array of unlikely heroes where absolutely nothing – from morals to individual integrity – any longer guides our heroes who, unable to manage either their goals or personal motivations face a disastrous sequence of chaotic – and often erratic, confused decisions while their 'usual rules of warfare are broken – making many fight amidst much unknown – what does it take for the unyielding hordes of human flesh to last against the brute force of a blood-thirsty, 500-lb bear - while also revealing a human side, which occurs at some unpredictable but - disturbing realizations amidst panic-inducing scenes.
