Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

Plot
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is a 2022 Japanese animated superhero film directed by Tetsuro Kodama and written by Akira Toriyama. The movie serves as a sequel to the Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' sagas, marking the 21st film in the Dragon Ball franchise. The story picks up several years after the events of the original Dragon Ball Super series. A new evil force emerges in the form of the Red Ribbon Army, an organization that was thought to have been completely eradicated by Goku in the past. The Red Ribbon Army was once a powerful military force that sought world domination, but they were eventually defeated and disbanded. However, under the leadership of a few rogue members, the organization has been secretly reactivated and rebuilt with a new objective: to exact revenge on Goku and his family. The primary antagonists of the movie are Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, two high-ranking officers of the Red Ribbon Army who are responsible for reviving the organization. Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 are not your average Androids, as they have been enhanced with advanced technology that makes them far superior to the original Super Android 17 and 18. With their newfound abilities, the duo is determined to crush Goku and his family, whom they see as responsible for their past defeat. The movie begins with the Red Ribbon Army launching a surprise attack on a group of children, kidnapping them and intending to brainwash them into becoming new followers. The parents of these children, however, are not ones to back down when their loved ones are threatened. Led by the parents, a team of parents who possess some hidden potential, a group of amateur warriors attempt to rescue their kids. Parallel to the conflict is the unfolding story of Top, the President of the Galactic Peace Federation, and his bodyguards Pirina and Nengi, a foreign government that secretly wants Goku's power. Unfortunately for Top, these rogue agents see Top as an enemy and aim to steal the Dragon Balls to use for their selfish purposes. As the events unfold in both storylines, the Red Ribbon Army ultimately reveals their true intentions of erasing any hint of the past and to do this they need to take down the key; the ones who are standing in their way-Goku's family. It is here that the protagonists, in particular, Piccolo, the strong and venerable Namekian, Gohan, and the child Piccolo-sensei, learn of the danger posed by the revived Red Ribbon Army. Goku, aware of the threat his own family is facing, returns from a time of contemplation, rejoining his friends and allies in order to protect his loved ones. Goku's friends, including Pan, Goten, and Trunks, launch a rescue mission to apprehend Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 and their cohorts in the Red Ribbon Army. With a new determination to save their fellow companions, a final battle begins between the mighty warriors and the strong arms of the Red Ribbon Army. Goku and his family team up with a teenage girl and a father and son duo for the inevitable showdown with Gamma. Their defense team, consisting of parents include strong human beings along with gifted warriors making unexpected strengths and sacrifices for a common dream-Goku to face his new foes safely. As the story progresses and the stakes become higher, the stakes between the two groups grow increasingly intense. The final battle, an epic clash between Goku's team and Gamma, consists of intricate hand-to-hand combat and dramatic power-ups. In a stunning climax, both parties demonstrate immense inner strength as each tries to protect its allies while making amends for past mistakes and overcome hardships their opponents had suffered. Throughout the intense battle and complex web of characters, the deep friendship of Goku, a show of passion about the bonds and connections shared by the two individuals sets the highlight of the film. For the time they shared in the emotional time from their school day which was showcased in the film also helps the fans empathize their feelings about this saga. As Gamma's force of destruction gains momentum and as the stakes of defeat come near to destroying their lives, Goku remembers the crucial technique he used to save his enemies, and not destroy the people that were looking to fulfill the wishes they had grown from, ultimately winning through sheer love for their kin and the family values; for a greater cause, that of their youth.

Okay, here's the translation of the review: First off, the fight scenes are absolutely exhilarating! It's been a long time since I've seen a movie this satisfying. The boss has a real sense of overwhelming power and menace. The character development between the fight scenes is also good, in a movie that isn't too long, all the main characters have completed arcs, the jokes contain the humor of Dragon Ball's early stages. When I saw that the movie was starting from Piccolo's perspective, I was hoping he wouldn't be put in a frustrating situation again. Turns out, not only does he get a power-up, but he's practically the main character throughout the whole movie, which was a pleasant surprise. Musically, there are many details that fit thematically with the superhero motif, like how Gamma 2 has onomatopoeia projections, like you might see in a comic book.

They've reheated almost every cliché in the book: Piccolo taking a hit for Gohan, fusion inevitably failing, Android 17 and Krillin rescuing each other again. And to make Gohan look strong, they force a power-up out of nowhere. Cell Max shows up, an incomplete robot that doesn't even compare to the original Cell. And of course, Gohan, who we were tricked into thinking was dead, has to be the one to take him down. What's so 'super' about Gohan's new form anyway? Against a robot, it's just a speed and strength contest? It's just absurdly disappointing. A complete waste of time.

Special Beam Cannon!

Didn't expect Cell to return in this form; they might as well have left him out!
