Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

Plot

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania starts by introducing a series of characters that have become familiar to audiences through the Hotel Transylvania franchise. Dracula, aka Drac, the charismatic yet nervous Transylvanian vampire, is on edge about his beloved hotel catering to the monster community, particularly around a specific celebration: the Werewolf Hotel Grad Night. Meanwhile, Dracula's concern for his hotel is cut short as his old nemesis, Van Helsing, makes an appearance, revealing a mysterious invention he has been working on called the Monsterfication Ray. Unbeknownst to the audience, Van Helsing's plan to destroy the monster community is cunningly embedded in his so-called reuniting with his estranged father. The invention, meant to serve as a tool against the monsters by turning them into beautiful humans, rapidly gets beyond the mad scientist's control and inadvertently morphs Dracula, the entire monster community into humans, and Johnny, who had been visiting the Transylvania Hotel with his crush, E SSie, into a monster. Upon observing themselves in a mirror, the creatures reveal a mix of mixed reactions ranging from ESSie breaking down because of her newfound and confused relationship with Johnny to the other monsters acknowledging their new transformations. What most people in the hotel initially considered as another regular year ends up becoming an occasion of utter chaos. Complicating this already wacky scheme is how the transformations also trigger strange, old rivalries among the monsters. Transmogrified into their new human bodies, Drac struggles to cope as a human. Clumsy and finding it impossible to maintain an aura of power in his human form, he finds himself doubting his leadership abilities and starts having bad visions of being rendered a joke figure at the monster holiday celebration, driving the chaos. In their new mismatched bodies, Drac must now navigate through this chaotic set of transformative circumstances as not only a leader who has faced these impossible dilemmas but as well as a loving father confronting the prospect of losing his newly-gotten family connections and trust. On the opposite side, Johnny's transformation provides new dynamics to the story. Overjoyed by the beautiful appearance he's now encountered, but terrified that he might still be struggling with acceptance of his new supernatural abilities and understanding the role he's now forced to play in the monster world, the erstwhile nice boy Johnny must now focus on adapting as quickly as possible in order to become the monster he was originally. While Johnny and the other Transylvanian humans fight desperately for their chance to regain control over their bizarre lives, the father, Abby, remains unconvinced of Johnny's new supernatural fate, driving a rift that tests the already complicated yet loving relationship between the monster and his newly-made human dad. As events in Transylvania rapidly escalate in to one of absolute despair, both Dracula and Johnny must set aside their contrasting human lives as not only a group but individually, to join hands and break through the never-ending puzzles that threaten to expose the vulnerable monster world. Steeping in old fears, uncertainty, re-forging bonds lost and testing long-established loyalties; the two main protagonists – Dracula and Johnny, launch their urgent journey through a world in which their loved ones with non-traditional physical forms begin questioning their reliability.
