Plot

In the heart of the Indian forest, there lives a young man named Shiva, a tribal vagabond who has grown up surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Along with his loving mother, they reside in a small hamlet, far from the chaos of the modern world. However, Shiva's carefree existence is not without its scars. A traumatic childhood incident has left an indelible mark on his life, making him wary of the traditional practices that his tribe has followed for generations. Specifically, the Daivaradhane and Bhoota Kola legacy, which are integral to their culture, have become anathema to him. Daivaradhane, a sacred form of folk thespianism, is a ritualistic performance where the villagers, dressed as deities and spirits, reenact the myths and legends of their ancestors. This tradition is deeply revered and closely tied to the spiritual practices of the tribe. In contrast, Murali Kashi, a stern and determined forest officer, views these rituals with suspicion, considering them to be an obstacle to his mission of preserving and protecting the forest. Shiva's reluctance to participate in these traditional practices stems from a painful memory that has left him haunted. As a young boy, he had gotten trapped in a ritual, being forced to impersonate a deity for the sake of the tribe's festivities. However, something went awry, and he barely escaped with his life. The trauma of that incident has stayed with him, casting a long shadow over his relationship with his community and the very culture that is supposed to be an integral part of his identity. As Shiva navigates his complex emotions, he finds solace in the company of his friends, who share his love for the forest and its secrets. The group often takes on odd jobs for their landlord, a wealthy and well-connected man who sees the forest as a potential source of profit. His interests and the influence of the local administration create a sense of unease among the villagers, who have long been tied to the land and its traditions. When Forest Officer Murali Kashi arrives on the scene, things take a dramatic turn. With his modern approaches and his determination to save the forest from the encroaching human activities, Murali becomes a lightning rod for the simmering tensions between the tribe and the government. Shiva, initially dismissive of Murali's efforts, soon finds himself torn between his loyalty to his friends and community, and his growing admiration for the forest officer's dedication to preserving the natural world. As the stakes escalate, it becomes increasingly clear that Murali is not the only player in this high-stakes game. A larger conspiracy is at work, and Shiva soon realizes that Murali might be a pawn in a much larger scheme to exploit the forest and its resources. The forest officer's presence has inadvertently triggered a long-brewing conflict between the villagers and the outside forces that seek to claim the land as their own. Shiva finds himself at the center of this maelstrom, struggling to reconcile his love for the forest and his tribe's traditions with his growing unease about the intentions of those in power. In a climactic confrontation, he must decide whether to stand by his community and risk losing everything they hold dear or join Murali and the forces of modernity in their quest to safeguard the forest for future generations. The fate of the forest and its inhabitants hangs precariously in the balance, as Shiva navigates the treacherous landscape of politics, tradition, and the human relationship with the natural world. The outcome is far from certain, leaving the viewer on the edge of their seat as they wait to find out whether Shiva will be able to save the forest from Murali, or if Murali is indeed just a dummy bait cast by the bigger fish vying for control.
